Extended warranty inspection.

Should I be paying for a inspection for the extended warranty whilst my car is being serviced at the dealership ?

If so, how much should I be paying.

I paid for the inspection on mine, about 200 Riyals (40 Quid) if i remember correctly.

That's cheap. I was told by my dealer that it's normally 2 hours labour if you go just for that, but if you get it done during a service they reduce the price. I guess as with anything, negotiate it with the dealer when getting a price for the service.

Is this the 140 point check? It's 3 1/2hrs worth of work. If it doesn't take 3 1/2hrs, then it's not being done properly!!

It was the 140 point check but I was having a service and new pads at the same time so it was probably well subsidised! This is the Middle East, you haggle for everything over here!

Hmm. My dealer definitely said 2 hours, but then it's the not the first time I have suspecting him of being making it up as he goes along.

When getting serviced at BR, I had a service and the 140 point check as warranty was running out. Remember chatting with Mike about it, he said its 3 1/2hrs to do it, the service does not cut that time down.

HOWEVER your dealer may only be charging you for 2hrs + service, though this seems unlikely..?

140 point check I will have done annually even though I don't have a warranty. It's peace of mind and pretty thorough.

Yes, I got the impression the dealer was talking about a price reduction when getting the servicing done at the same time rather than the service reducing the time for the inspection. Still, he definiteyl said 2h. Maybe BR are 175% more scrutinous?

JCT charged me zilch extra for the 140 point check at my last service - I kept a copy of it for posterity

In fairness to Wilmslow they do throw in the inspection for free provided that you are having the car serviced and provided you are taking out the warranty with them

I should imagine that most of the 140 point check should be covered by the service anyway.I mean that is the idea of the service isn't it, to check the car over!

No, service is to change consumables and known wesr items on schedule! Very little overlap, the check is basically designed so that nothing can be seen to be about to fail and AM won't have any warranty costs!

Have renewed the warranty twice, both times not charged for the warranty inspection as I had it serviced at the same time. Aston dealers typically carry out the 140 point inspection as part of the service, hence people moaning that dealer tells them brake pads /discs etc need replacing, door modules failing, stretched cable on the petrol filler cap etc etc.
