Hi I have Aston Martin Vantage V8 2006. I bought this car December 2011 under a warranty from a dealer, which has now lapsed. The car when I first drove it had a slight brake shudder on hard braking. I sent it back to the dealer who replaced the front discs and pads. The car after this drove perfectly ok on brakeing but over the last few days this brake shudder has now come back and slightly worse can anyone advise me on this problem. Cheers Gra
When you brake does the judder come through the pedal only or the steering wheel and the pedal? If the steering wheel then obviously it's likely just the fronts, if just pedal then just the rears.
If the discs have already been replaced and were installed and bedded in properly, they should be OK - but possibly this has not happened, even supposedly competent dealers/independents can fit brake discs incorrectly. Discs rarely warp, they often just get a build up of pad material unevenly on them which feels like judder or the thicknesses across the disc surface vary.
You need to go to a dealer or a brake specialist and have the, discs tested for axial run out - they'll measure variations in disc thickness and see what your run-out is. If they've been incorrectly fitted, the fitting delaer may still help you out whether you're in warranty or not. A few spots of rust on the mating surface could cause this issue.
