New brake pads ?

I have a 2005 DB9. Last service I was told the rear pads had about 3000 miles left in them. Will i get a dashboard warning that i need to replace them ?

Once the sacrificial pad wear sensors start making contact with the disc surface, you will get a warning—at which point you will also need to replace the sensors in addition to the pads.

Isn't the sensor just a wire that is embedded in the pad, which then wears thru when the pads are too thin? If so, then the 'sensor' is already part of the pad, no?

In a word: No.

The wear sensor is at the end of a cable and it clips into a slot on the outboard brake pad. There is no wire in the pad itself.

At the last service they replaced my rears at just over 3mm if I recall correctly.

The Dealer said there was no need to renew the sensors as they had not yet been 'activated'
