DB9 shudder at low speed

Hi there, as I posted last week I have recently taken delivery of a DB9 and am very pleased with it.

The only issue is that when I start the car up from cold and manoeuvre it at low speed around the car park there is a juddery vibration coming from the rear of the car, normally when I am turning the wheel- it is not enormous and not enough that I noticed it on the test drive but enough that I now notice it after 10 drives or so, it is only in 1st and 2nd gears and curiously it disappears after the car has warmed up and does not occur at speed.

Question is- is this something that they all do or is it something that I need to have looked at?

I've heard that changing the differential oil can solve this sort of problem in the early cars, is there anything else that I need to think about or am I being a bit 'new car paranoid'?

had the same problem with my DB9....power stering part was replaced under warranty last year but it wasn't an expensive fix

That is exactly it. Thanks so much I will get it booked in to change the diff oil.

My diff causes the rear wheel on the turning side to skip at low speed; does it on my gravel drive. But I don’t hear the juddering.

I expect it was quite alarming when you first heard it! I’ll just mention it at the next service interval and leave them to assess it.

Michael, I read somewhere, the power steering judder at full lock was a ‘characteristic’ as it was described; noticed even on the first DB9 press cars. I’m lucky, mine just whines a bit, but I have driven an 05 DB9 that did it.

Did the dealer modification completely eliminate the problem then?

Got it booked in at Jardine next week to do the oil. I presume it is this because once I run the car up to temperature it stops doing it.

I presume it won't hurt the car to run it in the meantime? I'm really enjoying it so am driving it at the slightest opportunity!!

The steering became very heavy at low speeds.....anyway whatever they did it fixed it

Hi guys, got my car back from Jardine, the diff oil change plus an additive has fixed the problem completely. Glad it wasn't something more costly. Thanks for the replies.
