Standard vs Lightweight seats

Hello all

What's everyones opinion on the standard vantage seats and the lightweight seats? Anyone tried both? Im personally surprised the lightweight seats have no heated element.

That's like being surprised a lightweight car doesn't have dual climate control or a 15 speaker stereo system... They're wafer thin carbon buckets trimmed in alcantara, genuine 'lightweight' seats! If they have heaters, they may as well have electrical adjustment and then... They're the normal sports seats

It seems to come to personal choice, try both. Are there gearchange position issues with manual/lightweight or just Top Gear hyperbole?

For me heated seats are essential in an open car, not required in a coupe. what are you looking for?

Not really that fussed about heated seats. I suppose it would be interesting to know if the lightweight seats are comfortable on the longer journeys. One thing I don't want is to slide around in the corners because that happened to me in the standard seat.

Very. I have got a prolapsed disc in my lower back and find them REALLY comfortable even after 2-3 hours behind the wheel. There has been several threads on here asking the same question and it seems that if you have them then most owners luv 'em.-.. I do

Lightweight seats all the way for me - far more comfy than the sports seats providing your posterior fits. I wouldnt buy another Aston without them now.

I seem to remember you have asked quite a few questions now on your journey over the last 12mths to buy a Vantage, indeed looking back through your profile I think you have just about every one in the book covered now I reckon...

Good to see your expections / budget has keep rising as the weeks have passed by. Keep hanging in there and at this rate you'll will be looking at a V12 by Xmas and maybe even a Vanquish by next spring!

Just to add a contradictory view. I was advised by a couple of owners (not on here) that they would not recommend the lightweight seats as they were not comfortable over longer distances.

My view is that the seat clearly depends upon your own personal preferences which will be affected by your preferred driving position and build etc etc.

Asking for views on an internet forum is meaningless and is equivalent to asking do you prefer blondes or brunettes. Personally I prefer one of each but not possible with seats

You need to go and try both before making a deposit

I doubt that'll happen with the lightweight seats! Sounds like you might have your answer...

Just arrived home from a 5hr trip back from Brussels in the new car, lightweight seats are superb. The same trip in the old car with the sports seats got a bit painful after a couple of hours.

I drove all the way home from Le Mans this year door to door in about 11 hours with 3 stops... I know I would have struggled in the sports seats in my old V8... But was no problem in the lightweight seats.... and I prefer blondes...

Same here had both and would stay with lightweight seats more confortable and as you say if you want to stay firmly in position when cornering lightweight seats are the way to go or swap the springs.

If you are a lardy you will not fit that is why AM dealers do not like spec LW seats, harder to sell used, the cars not grey, black silver etc, etc.

I like the light weights in my S
For me the manual and light weight are an issue with 2, 4 & 6 and elbow room
They are base on a Recaro race seat so "luxuries" like heater and multi adjustment are a no go
But I will be sorting heaters on mine over the winter
Go try them and decide for your self

You are correct, I thought i'd conduct my research before buying and selling my previous car (and grants book helped massively)

I've gone from a 4.3 2007MY to a 2009/2010MY 4.7 with Sport Pack, Lightweight seats and Premium Audio. Budget has increased from 40k to 60k. Might be able squeeze an N420 will have to see. Also managed to get finance approved at 5% APR (down from 10%!). Planning to keep it 2 years and then move to a DBS when the sprogs arrive.

I'm planning to test drive a 4.3 and then a 4.7 Sport Pack on the same day in a couple of weeks. Need to test the standard seat and the lightweight seats, maybe take a few CD's down and try out the sound system as well. I'm just trying to narrow down exactly what i want so i can just go out and view those particular cars.

FWIW my DBS seats are lovely. I am a skinny little tt and I find lateral support fine although it should be noted the inserts are velvet or something. Not leather anyway
