Hyper-miling an Aston

This shouldn't be allowed in such a car, but on a particularly uninspiring and rainy stretch of French motorway last week I decided to see what range I could get out of my V12V. Became a bit of an obsession towards the end of the tank so boredom was dealt with at least! This is what I managed - close to 390 miles (although I didn't have the guts to try and stretch that last 40 miles!). Close to double the "Route Napolean" tank a day prior!

What mpg did that equate to?

Can't be bothered with the calculus, but assuming your man used a full tank, that works out at just under 20mpg.

Obviously he had a bit left for the 40 miles range.

Probably the only thing I don't like about my Volante is the smaller fuel tank (than the coupe). Pushing on it's gone in 150miles although it'll do 300+ when cruising.

Must ask BR if a I can have a larger bag-type tank...

That's impressive in a V12! I had a possible range of 445 miles pootling up the M6 to Scotland a couple of weeks back. Got about 27mpg on the motorway leg.

My DB9 averages 23 mpg on Autoroutes and autobahns cruising at 85/100 with two on board and the memsahib's excessive baggage.

Yes 23, is what I was getting on a trip to Portugal in April.

I was rather surprised and pleased with it.

I managed 20 mpg when I went to Le Mans .... Sticking to speed limits plus weather was dreadful on the way down are my only excuses ... Was too embarrassed to mention it until now

i have managed the 3 dashes and you still have a gallon left that is approx

jumping on this thread ive had my car nearly a year now and managed about 300 mile range and now im getting near 350 after a recent thermostat replacement.

Spot on - if you want to cover vast distances across the continent via the autoroutes, a 300+mile range is important.

Because crossing continents in a Golf diesel is just as good as doing it in an Aston isn't it?

Fortunately I live in a world with more choices that Aston Martin and one model of Golf.

However, you'd probably get there as quickly, more reliably, more cheaply and with the same views in the Golf, without having to worry about where to park it.

You wouldn't get strangers fawning though.
