Trip to Italy

I am planning to take my DB9 to Europe next month. This is a rough idea of the route i think i will take. Idea is to spend a few days at Lake Garda as well as stopping off at a few other places on the way there/back. Planning to take about 1 week or just over.

Also...ferry to Calais and back.... not sure when will be returning, so is it easy to just turn up on the day we want to sail home and get a place?

You're planning nearly the same route as my brother and myself next year. Lucern in Switz might be worth a stop over (we intend to do 2x nights there). Also try and factor in the Stelvio pass.... you're going that near to it, for bragging rights alone its worth doing.

Hi. We have just returned from a 15 day trip to Europe in our V8V - will be writing up a summary with pics later this week. The car seemed to thrive on the journey & we got some great mileage from the fuel (we covered around 2,700 miles all in all).

In advance of my write-up, we took Le Shuttle (personally, not a fan of ferries), stayed at 7 hotels in total (Chateau Etoges - Nr Epernay, Chalet Apassion - Samoens, Castello Vicchiomaggio - Tuscany, Palazzo Sasso - Ravello on Amalfi Coast, Villa Campestri - Mugello in Tuscany, Hotel La Perla - Lake Como, Chateau De Rilly - Reims). All hotels were picked because we either stayed there before or had good parking facilities.

Ferry - I use Norfolkline Dover to Dunkirque - £52 return!
You are missing ALOT of good roads on that route - pick a few from here www.alpineroads.com or www.bestbikingroads.com
I would avoid that SE coast road as well if poss, it has a few nice tunnels but it gets packed

ETA - as you are passing Andermatt do the "Andermatt Loop"

Ferry you usually have to book for a specific day. Go eurotunnel on a Flixiplus ticket, allows you a 5 day window to come back in, just turn up - priority boarding onto next train.
Saves an hour on the journey as well

Thanks to all for the great advice. I will look into the suggestions. This is exactly why I asked on here, as I have not done a trip like this before, so you have been a great help.
