How to disable alarm v8 vantage
Discussion
Hi guys, been lurking for a while, thanks for all the invaluable and entertaining posts. Long may they continue!
Quick question, i will be taking an overnight car train from Trieste to Dusseldorf as part of the return leg of my European tour (epernay, baden baden, davos, como, venice) and want to be able to disable the car alarm when i put the car on the train. (saving the inevitable flat battery issue!)
Can anyone kindly advise how i can do this? Thanks, benny.

When guard reduction is
active deadlocking,
interior movement
(option) and tilt (option)
sensors are disabled. This
allows a passenger to
open the doors from the
inside by pulling the
interior door handle and
a passenger or animals to be left in the vehicle without
activating the security system.
With the vehicle key in position ‘0’ or ‘I’ or within
60 seconds of removing the vehicle key the reduced guard
button can be activated.
Press ‘A’ to activate. The button will show red when reduced
guard is active.
Reduced guard remains active until the vehicle key is
inserted in the Ignition Control and moved to position ‘II’
(ignition ON).
Where A is the button (presumably; the manual omits it) on the side of the dash, visible when you open the door. active deadlocking,

If it's the Volvo fob/Ford key that's easy
If you've got an ECU in the dash then I understand that there is a separate key that should have been supplied with the car.
welcome to the forum......not being difficult but do you think forum members should be giving any type of security information about Aston Martins to somebody who has never left a post before ? .....however, to be helpful, It clearly tells you in the handbook how to turn off the alarm for transportation.....have a great holiday

Valid point, Michael. I did consider it, but since the information is public domain and almost every car has this exact same feature, I posted anyway.
I almost posted RTFM, but then I realised I wasn't you.
na ...leave it to me to be the arse......i'm so bloody good at it I almost posted RTFM, but then I realised I wasn't you.

apols should have specified, is an early 2007 v8 vantage.
BingoBob, thanks for your post - with the process you describe, how would i lock the car when i get out? with fob or key? and assume this wouldnt cancel the settings you have suggested?
Michael - thoroughly agree with your post but assumed this question did not breach/risk any security issue given i would be inside the vehicle already!
many thanks guys
