Castrol 10W60

A few years ago, while on a driving tour in the UK, I noticed that 10W30 synthetic oil was selling in motorway service centres at close to £20 per litre.

I'm curious to know what folks are paying for Castrol 10W60 "liquid gold" in the UK. I just ordered some Castrol 10W60 for my V8V from the US at approximately $15 USD per litre.

At these prices we should be able to drink this stuff.

Currently 10-60 Castrol edge is showing as £47.99 for 5 litres at Nielson Oils or £9.60 per litre. Assuming an exchange rate of around £1 to $1.5 it's about $14.4 or thereabouts.

The more you buy here, the cheaper it gets per litre!

You can get 4 litres for £26 which is around $10 per litre.

Can you give a link for that please? seems amazingly cheap for Castrol 10-60, might get mine in for it's end of year service!

cheapest Ive seen is about £40 from www.opieoils.co.uk ...I usually stock up when they have an offer on

The £20 price per litre for 10W30 synthetic must have been "special motorway" pricing.

Hi Bob, perhaps i can explain......nobody buys oil from motorway services ( unless your stupid or desperate) as their prices are the most expensive anywhere in the UK.....they have to pay the British government an average on $5m for the franchise as so have to make it up from their "captive" customers

When I got back to Canada from our UK roadtrip, my friends were shocked to learn that one litre of synthetic oil could cost as much as $35 CAD. We pay that much for 4 litres of synthetic.

By the way, the weekend at the Goodwood Revival and the AM factory tour were the highlights of our UK vacation. We have nothing in Canada that compares to the Goodwood Revival. The Goodwood Revival is a national treasure!
