Virage discontinues

Hi. I am new to PH and Aston Martin. I was just about to put deposit down on a new virage, from dealer showroom, when someone told me the virage production has been stopped after just a year and will essentially be replaced by a new db9.
Incidentally, it wasnt the dealer who told me this. Does anyone know if this is true?
If it is true and the new db9 has a similar/better spec than the virage then surely the second hand value of the virage will plummet.
Would anyone agree that there is a big risk buying a new virage before the actual spec of the new db9 is released, from a second hand value point of view ?

It could also be the exact opposite. I.e the Virage is fuller spec than the upcomming DB9 - doubt very much whether the DB9 would have carbon brakes as standard. I like the Virage. A bit like the DBS without the Halford bits - like the DB9 should have been in the first place.

Agree, I think this one will stand up to the test of time (and depreciation hopefully!)
I traded my V8VRS for a new Virage Volante in June after the v12 bug bit me. Not regretted it since. I was armed with the knowledge that the model per-se was being discontinued, but that a lower spec DB9 was being introduced, with an optional "Virage pack" upgrade. This, coupled with the fact I got quite a tasty discount, should stand the car in good form over the coming years.
Initially I was after a new DBS Volante, but the Virage really grew on me, as its just as good to drive as the DBS (Better in fact with the more advanced 10 stage adaptive dampers, albeit 20HP down on the DBS's 510HP - nothing BR can't fix!), while not looking quite like its had an add-on body kit stuck to it! I also really like the newer style headlamps over the DBS. They seem to suit the enormously long front of the car better.
Shockingly (and at risk of a lifetime ban) I haven't posted pics yet, but they will follow ASAP!

Future classic status is helped a lot if it is actually a >very< good car. Rarity + goodness + replacement-not-as-good = future classic The Virage had the best bits of both the DB9 and DBS combined and was better looking than both of them. As to the 20bhp difference, let's just say you shouldn't be >too< worried about it

Totally agree, it's a beautiful looking car, with a more modern angle than the 9, and sleeker than the S. I too think it will be a future classic.Edited by Wobbly on Tuesday 28th August 15:24
