Aston Number Plates

Having had V8s before, I've finally been able to buy V12 JBK (My intitials) in anticipation of V12VR

What are the rules on advertising on here my old Aston related plate and a V12VR related plate I bought before I realised V12 JBK was available ?

Can't advertise on the forum (unless you're Tony Hall ) so I guess put it in the classifieds. There's a section for miscellaneous car parts...

Assume that the rules prohibit it.

Nothing wrong with putting a picture of it in your profile though, I would have thought.

No, you'll get a surly email from PH and the thread will be deleted.

I did this when I stuck my Noble on the classifieds. I popped up a quick thread saying I'd made my mind you to sell it, and gave a link to my ad. And shortly afterwards my thread was deleted.

I've just changed my plate to V111 VAV. I just liked the way it looked. I wanted all Vs but I could not get that.

But, I've just told my insurance company and the chissling bds have extorted £17.50 as an admin fee. Robbers.

That happened to Mr Gould a few months ago when he had one of his 'attention-seeking-drama-queen-call-me-George' episodes and put his car for sale in the classifieds with a reference on this forum. I think he argued his case so vehemently that he was served with a 7 day ban ???

Daft thing is, as far as I am aware, you can point out something you've seen for sale in classified, ebay, etc providing you aren't the seller ? Which would encourage you to register with an alias (we all have more than one email address we can use I imagine) and post about your own item. Then use your real PH identity to comment on the thread ! Not that I'm planning on doing that of course !

Indeed you can, and people often do.

It's just like posting "I went to dealer xyz and they were great" ( which you can say ), but if you put "I went to dealer xyz and they were crap" ( which you can't say ).

It's not just PH that this happens of course. A lot of web sites are frightened to death about people writing negative views on businesses. It's simply because they don't understand the law and think they will be taken to court. Actually, it's simply not the case.

I was not overly pleased about it.

I suspect they wont be getting my business in a few months time when it's time for me to renew both cars with them.

I personally think the daft this is thread is asking whether or not you are allowed to post to tell people you have put something in the classifieds - which by asking that specific question is kind of what you are doing anyway....

Hence the smiley after the question ! But that was several posts in - I originally asked if I could post details of some plates I'm selling, deliberately keeping very cagey about any specifics

A few weeks ago, wary & unsure of the rules, I sold some Aston luggage on ebay without mentioning it on here til after I'd sold it. A member said he wished he'd known. Damned if you do and all that !
