Help, vanquish gearbox

Hi all
Drove vanquish to nurburgring. Just coming into town gearbox fault message. Won't shift up down parked up shut down. Restart but won't select any gears. Left it for 20 then works fine.
I want to do a few laps today. Any opinions?

I'd be tempted to turn up at Aston Martin's facility there and see if they can give you a hand?

That's a good idea. Is it at the ring start bit or the main gp bit?

Have a look / post on AMOC site. Lots of in depth knowledge on Vanquish gearbox foibles on that site.

Got the car home, quite an adventure.

From having it fault out every 2 shifts in 30 degree temperature it then ran perfectly on the run back from hull at 20 degrees.

Time to start the investigation.

Sounds like a dry joint on the gearbox brain or a lose connection somewhere. Possibly a faulty sensor.

Not sure what diagnostics are available for the Vanquish. Surely there would be some fault codes stored that could be read with the appropriate software.

Yes, could be. I'm going to borrow an OBD2 and plug in to see what's logged.

I don't think that you will be able to see anything with an OBD2 reader. OBD2 protocol concerns the engine and engine data. You will almost certainly need a reader that is specific to the car / manufacturer. *Maybe* the Ford one will work. Can't remember what it's called. Seb's got one. SS972 on here.

Thanks for that. A friend of mine has a garage and has a few different readers for modern vehicles. I'll speak to him.

Sunning myself under Mount Etna at the moment Lewis, so I'm a bit behind on here. Just not the same as being at work where we all have time to keep up with things. I think our mans best bet is indeed to get in touch with BR. And Phil I'm getting myself some red pants so that I really do look like an AMOC member, you'd better add them to your list! As soon as I saw the topic I knew there would be a lot of smiles out there! All part of the magnificent beasts character.

worst part of the weekend was blocking the entrance to Nurburgring car park and having to push it...
