V12V shift lights

Shouldn't it have them? My DB9 did. I just noticed at the weekend that they don't come on in my V12V.

They should, they do in mine. They light up in a 1 / 2 / 3 sequence of red lines in the centre top of the dash.

Same as on my DB9. I will get it checked (hit the limiter the other day, looking for the lights while being a little silly).

Perhaps they have suffered lack of use If so it is just the excuse you need.

V12V does have them. It's only that as you near the limiter in a V12V your eyes are distracted by the scenery rushing towards you at an alarming rate. It all gets a bit hectic at full chat.

The DB9 gives you a bit more time to notice interior fripperies.

There's no redline. Presumably you have an auto?

Well, I tried it out last night and only one light, the lower (lowest?) of the lines in the middle came on before the limiter.

Need to get it checked.

So, do you just learn the engine note in each gear in all conditions and use that to change up when charging on (or having fun)?

If you're concentrating on the road, the little red shift lights are quite useful - they catch your eye without you having to look down and check the revs.

Shame there isn't a green - yellow - red progression like my old Tuscan. You could manually set them as well, really useful when pushing on, and that was NOT a car where you needed to take your eyes off the road!

Same on BMW M cars. The best was on the M5 with the HUD. That meant the shift lights were on the end of the bonnet.

This can actually be done aftermarket fairly easily I think - the lights you can get from Demon Tweeks etc. Just not easy to make it look nice! Although lights on the upper edge of the Aston binnacle would look OK if they were recessed...

That is easy then. Find an old set of traffic lights and mount them on the bonnet..... job done.
