Warranty Price

Hi All,

Well, it's that boring, old chestnut again I'm afraid - in my defence I tried the google search (PH search is down at the mo) and couldn't find anything regarding price, but stand to be corrected!!

My V12V is shortly to go over the 3 years and so needs service, MOT, 240 point check and AM warranty (yup, I'm a sucker for insurance). I've been quoted very competitive prices for service, MOT and free 240 point check (if warranty taken out) but £1.5k for the warranty, which from memory seems a bit high. I thought is was more around £1k / year? I suspect that its a bit swings and roundabouts with the dealer with service being a bit of a loss leader...Btw: I also tried contacting AM Works Service for a comparison, but didn't get back to me (bit surprised).

So I was wondering if anyone had had any quotes recently for the AM warranty (I guess it differs for the car model, no?) and is the £1.5k price about right?

sounds about right and unless i am mistaken it is a 140 point check unless they have since found something else to add to the list.

errrr yup you're right....still from what I've read before perhaps it should be a 240 point check!

Might be worth getting a quote from Warranty Direct for comparison, before I decided to just stick the money in an account they were cheaper for more comprehensive cover - just a thought...

I think 1.5k for the Aston warranty is about right - bear in mind the 140pt check >cough< if done properly >cough< is around 3hrs work so that takes some of the sting away.

IF, and it's a big 'if' (hence the capital letters), I was going to get a warranty with my own money, I think I would only bother with an Aston one.

Had a quick look and the price came out the same but from independent and not AM dealership (£1.9k)

Hi David, that is a lot, but I remember my V8V was £1200 2 years ago to extend. I bought my V12V last year when 2 years old and was offered extended warranty at time of purchase for £600 and no 140 point check as it was still in warranty.

I wonder if that is offered as a extension only at time of purchase or the Aston Dealer can be approached at 2 years old and extend at that point as I have? It might be worth someoen with a 2 year old car asking the question?????

Yes - felt high to me, but appears its about the going rate...btw: I wasn't offered any extended warranty when I bought mine second hand..

When I bought my V8V from Grange I was offered a second year warranty for £1,195.

When I got my V8V from Grange it was just inside five years old and they gave me a one year premium warranty for free.

The more you guys pay for oil, the more stuff I can have. Keep buying oil, expensive stuff is better than cheaper stuff, I can draw you a graph

Does anyone actually know what the check list is for the140 point, eh.........check ?

i am not sure of them all but the first two checks are how stupid you look and the next is your wallet.

the 140 point check are all the things you could possibly claim for under the warranty.

the rest of the car they don't care a monkeys about as you will end up paying for those.
