Just got back, from a great 10 day trip to Europe.
Eurotunnel to Calais ..... Motorway to Baden- Baden.... B500 through the Black Forrest..... Lucerne and a fantastic scenery on the way to Interlaken/Meringen.....over the Grimsel; Furka and St Gottard Passes into Italy....drove the length of Lake Garda to Riva. Then on to Verona. On to Nice/Cannes then follow the Route Napoleon to Grenoble. Final stop at Beaune, before heading home to Blighty.
10 day trip, nothing booked apart from the train we found some great places to stay, among them:

This was my childhood dream to do this in an Aston Martin, and my 2005 DB9 did not disappoint. We certainly got noticed everywhere we went. I will post a few pictures soon.
Observations:
French motorway driving can be expensive, but what a joy due to lack of traffic. For the long legs use cruise control and you can easily cover 500+ miles in a day.
The Black Forrest B500 and Route Napoleon were a joy to drive, lots of twisties. The tunnels along the road up the side of lake Garda do make you feel you are in the opening sequence of a Bond film. The Swiss passes were just stunning...on the Furka you can stop and walk inside the glacier.
Think I might make a habit of this, especially as the Eurotunnel is so easy and quick.
