Bought my car from dealer in Wales. Had my car for 5 weeks and noticed pads seemed very low. Took to dealer in Reading who says they need replacing as worn out and breaking up. Dealer in Wales refuses point blank to pay for the replacement saying 3000 miles ago they were fine.
so now faced with £1000 bill after 6 weeks of Aston ownership.

Thanks, that helps. It was the dealer in Cardiff who aranged for me to take it to the dealer in Reading. I am more than capable of changing them myself but when you spend £80k plus on a car I expect it to last more than 3000 (mostly motorway ) miles before something wears out wouldn't you?

You will see that John's are just under the thickness of the backing plate (about5mm)and he has been advised to change but we are taking a new set to Spa just in case they don't last

Sorry to hear that dealer has been treating you so badly
As Bob suggested I would try speaking to Gaydon about it, dealers have to been seen to meet stringent standards to keep their franchise.

Was it bought under the approved Aston Martin used scheme? If so I understand they have to ensure tyres pads etc have to have a certain life left in them. Ask to see a copy f the 140 point check if you do not already have it.
Not a bad piece of advice as far as I can see 
My sheets from March clearly show the amount of life left in the pads

Ask the Cardiff boys how much that they measured on the 140 point check. I think that new, the DB 9 has 8mm on the pads and the warning light comes on at 2 mm. If you have 10mm new and 75% wear is when the warning light comes on, you can draw your own conclusions from what Cardiff says.Maybe if you ask Reading what they had measured before advising you to change pads, that would also help.
