Later fitting of options to V8V

I am just in the process of hunting down a V8V of around the 2007 era and would like to know if it is possible to fit options to the vehicle chosen if they are not present when it was first specd. Are wiring looms etc in place even if not taken up at spec time. In particular I was thinking of the electric wing mirrors and premium audio. I have the Gaydon era book which has been a great help and have hunted on here but if it is a common question I apologise.

I believe that the wiring loom is the same so options can be added. I have added an auto-dimming mirror to my MY07 V8V, the wiring and plug was in place so it was a simple plug and play upgrade. I also have the electric fold mirrors on my car.
With regard to the Premium Audio, this can be added at a cost! I recall James from Paralight on here upgrading a car with this but it was around the £2K mark!! Better to find a car with that already on board if it's high up your must have list of options!

It depends on the option I believe. Irrespective of that, I would bet large that it will always be cheaper to wait and buy the right car than to try and bugger about after buying the wrong one.
There will be a lot of dealer spec'd cars around the age you are looking at and most of these, IMO, will have had the premium audio and electric wing mirrors. So keep looking...

Hi, I'm in a similar position. Been looking for a 2007 V8V for a few months now in the right colour and spec. The folding mirrors a necessity due to having a single car garage, the car will fit but every inch helps. Nearly had the perfect car a few weeks ago but no folding mirrors. Friendly dealer suggested they are a 'simple retro-fit item' quoted at £1200 but decided the sensible option was to wait. The right car is out there somewhere.

Not sure if this is correct, but I thought all vantages had folding mirrors??I know early ones folded, but you had to do it by pressing both buttons at the same time, then later they auto fold off the key fob

While it is true that all Vantage mirrors fold-in, electric "power fold" mirrors was indeed an option not included in all cars. ..........My car has power fold, and I asked at the main dealers if it could be enabled on door locking.....Oh your car doesn't have that feature Sir....

Rick at DMS...... Would you like your PF mirror feature activating on door lock....... me it can't be done, main dealer said so

Cars without powerfold you can only fold by hand.

OP premium sound will more complicated to fit as amps speakers and trims will need changing

Andy the mirror heads are the same as a 2005 Volvo V70 but as you would see the bracket is different. I don't know about the electrics inside the door ie control module or the plugs.I will have a go one day of taking one of my volvo and trying it on my 06 V8V.
When it happens i will post results.
You might find a pair on fleabay cheaper that from a AM dealer.
My V70 has auto dip interior mirror you might find that is the same as the aston one, will look at that as well.
Premium Audio is fantastic. I bet a good car audio specialist could get you a similarly fantastic sounding system at a fraction of the cost by changing the speakers, adding an amp or 2.
Don't know if the normal sound system has surround and other effects. Don't worry if it doesn't, as it sounds awful IMO. I have it all turned off in my car.

Yep, missed out the word 'power' before 'folding mirrors' . Dav S, I'm waiting for a 07 coupe, meteorite, black interior, 19" 7 spokes - think everyone ticked that option box, power fold mirrors, premium audio - would be nice with it but not high on the list (the best speaker is under the bonnet), silver stich would be nice too. Sold the Z4 start of last year and been looking for something to clean on a Sunday morning since.
Yourtheguy, chances are all the cars, power fold mirrors or not will have the same loom. IMO there's probably a junction box in the door with an empty socket just needing the power fold mirror cable plugging in. It's just fitting the mirros and getting to the box that puts me off

Indeed.But early cars with no powerfold mirrors had no option other than using your mitts (not even the two button method AIUI)
I would also have thought it costly to retrofit - can't imagine the motors etc are in the casings of cars without the option...
The options list when the cars were first releases was "substantial".

Job means Ive already missed a couple I would have quite likely brought.

I have a single garage and manage ok with mirrors in their normal position. However, mine does have powerfold mirrors. It might actually help with them out, because you have to get the car in exactly the right position. Sometimes I have to have 2 or 3 goes and I suspect the neighborughs are laughing when I do that "Look at that t

The plan was to fold them in as it squeezes through past the garage door frame, then pop them out again to see the rear arches through.
