I would welcome your experience and advice on running a DB7 V12 Volante. I am happy enough with the MPG and prepared to set aside a "nasty surprises" fund. But what are the regular service and associated parts costs.
I am reckoning around 6000 miles p.a. from a car with 30-50k on the clock.

If there is an earlier thread I've missed on this, do post a link.
Thanks.

Based upon personal experience and from reading relevant threads on the AMOC Forum, then the annual costs of running a V12 DB7 are likely to be circa £1,500. This estimate would be based upon having no major problems and the annual service undertaken by a recognised Aston Specialist. There is a tremendous amount of information on the AMOC Forum (Bloxham section), concerning these cars that I would urge you to read before buying one. They are fabulous cars and if you know what to look for then you can get a great deal of car for the money.

No one services them twice a year unless they do mega-mileage or have a warranty, which they won't. Even Works Service don't expect one to come back more than once a month. The worst service is approx £1,200 from Works Service, with the intermediate once coming in significantly less than that. Based on comments from various DB9 owners I have spoken to, the DB7 Vantage works out cheaper than the DB9 for servicing.

(P.S. Only the uneducated believe it is any more a Jag than the current Gaydon cars are just a collection of Ford and Volvo bits .... wink )

i agree with the above....the new gaydon cars are bit of ford and volvo....then again only the ignorant forget the fact that the db7 is also a parts car...it does have jaguar chasais , suspension , all the suspension bushes are jaguar.....it is more jag than a jag...which i might add are also bit cars....and insinating that i am uneducated is ignorance on your part...i suspect you will now come back with infamous line....it saved Aston Martin.....biggrinhurl

Not really sleep I've had two Gaydon cars and a DB7 and I'm not a fan of those who try to belittle one model or another. Never understood the point. I am an Aston owner and fan of the brand, whichever model it is. The question was about DB7 V12 annual running costs, not whether you like them or not ... wink

Funnily enough, I've met quite a few owners or future owners of pre-Gaydon cars who avoid PH just because of the sort of responses that come back. It's gained something of a "don't bother posting if you're not a Gaydon owner" reputation out in the AM Owners world ... wink Sad really, as it has an impact on the usefulness of this little corner of Pistonheads ....

As Ian Callum put it ...

"Any Aston borrows parts from other models, and a car is much more than the sum of its parts. Besides, so much development work went into the platform of the DB7 that it was barely recognisable (As an XJS) . We turned it into what it needed to be,and a platform is just a piece of metal.
Its heart and soul is Aston Martin"

I have owned 2 DB7 ........great cars and the Vantage is so good to look at.......check the well known problem areas .such as.....coil packs and pay a little more for one with an immaculate service history

Good advice there! Coil packs are always high on the "concern" list of prospective owners. Also check the rear suspension trailing arm mounts, where the meet they body. Mine have just been welded and repaired before corrosion became too bad.

Headlights are expensive to replace apparently - something to do with rarity I was told,

Suspension bushes tend to go leading. In the case of mine, a fluid leak contaminated the bushes on one side and caused them to fail, resulting in a noticeable knock under anything other than gentle acceleration.
