It gets more confusing. You can buy the DB9 but then a Virage upgrade will be offered. I have no idea what that entails though.

Key points......

510bhp and 457lbft + 40bhp/14lbft ( latest engine spec taken from Vanquish project) and new three stage ADS for great range of driving dynamics more comfort and better handling - there are also new auto-light/wipers.

Otherwise A.M. Have simply upgraded the DB9 to Virage spec, slightly lighter than the old Db9 (15kg) with Carbon Ceramic brakes , Bi Xenon lights and the better interior ( piping/alloy seat controls etc) and Virage styling plus a DBS duck tail rear spoiler!

I'm slightly disappointed that it doesn't feature the new Vanquish interior, in essence it is a facelifted Virage with more torque than a DBS and better ADS...... but the further good news is it is around £18,000 less than the outgoing Virage. So overall a nice positive new addition to A.M's range.

hmm... I was about to moan about how they're making all their models identical (i.e db9 virage and dbs) but just looking on the AM website and it looks like they've removed the virage from the 'view all cars' bit?!

The "new" DB9, demise of the Virage, Aston's daft model strategies etc were all covered last week (maybe even before that).

I hadn't seen the 510bhp bit, that's rather nice.

Though I can't help thinking that the 1000 or so people who bought a Virage may be just a little miffed than you can now get the same car, with 510bhp for £18,000 less.

I doubt it. It's less powerful than the DB9 now, so I doubt it'll achieve any sspecial tatus. In fact I'd wager that the Virages will be worth a fair bit less than the DB9 in years to come. Shame really.

Thing is, I prefer the Virage name, I think they should have canned the DB9 altogether and just upgraded the Virage. Then you have continuity in the naming convention - Vantage, Virage, Vanquish. Nice.

Interesting - thats the same BHP as the DBS/V12V/V12VR/Zag engine but 37 morelbft of torque, yet derived from the Vanquish mods.

Im actually a tad surprised they have moved the DB9 engine output above the V12V/V12VR/Zag (I guess DBS can be ignored now as it is discontinued).

It is a thing of lovliness, probably as pure as the original DB9 but in a different way. Makes the 310quish look rather lumpen by omparison, but that;s modernity for you

I shall be having that tonneau cover for my Volante with the 'doube bubble'. Adds a very nice line to the silhouette.

I don't think this 'Virage Pack' will exist. The car has 510bhp and CCMs as standard, so is already above Virage spec.

But remember this varient will probably have at best have the new VanqII TT gearbox - which means just like the VanqII, DBS, and the Virage, it will still be veiwed in the rear mirror of the V12V in most performance tests.

Lolz. Care to share some of these numerous tests where the V12V completely mullers all other Astons? Or does it just feel quicker because it has a shorter wheelbase?

The Vanq II will likely murder the V12V, it is superior in every way. A DBS keeps up perfectly well, so would a DB9 pretty much if you changed the differential to DBSs spec.
