A friend of a friend was travelling back from a meeting recently when he noticed that the van in front was one of those used by the, erm....."West Midlands Photographic Society" We all know the type, often found by the side of the road with a photographer perched on a milk crate in the back. Apparently, the Aston struggled to keep up at one point!!

I hope they didn't have camera running when your "friend of a friend" was doing 83 and holding a mobile phone to film them ..... that would be ironic smile

A V12 powered one would have been fine! tongue out

Can you not send that picture (taken by a passenger obviously officer wink) to your local road safety partnership? Would be nice to see them suffer, the bds!

Now there's a thought - I'll ask my friend to ask his (or her) friend. hehe

Unfortunately, I think a single photo doesn't prove anything except that your friend's friend's car was exceeding the speed limit and illegal use of a mobile nono It could have been closing rapidly on the van which may have been doing a steady 70mph. I realise that this is unlikely as obviously the driver had time to get his phone out (assuming he wasn't already using it - another offence), switch on the camera, compose and take the shot. That would have taken some presence of mind to try and frame a camera van you'd just happened to bear down on for speeding! idea Two shots with a known time interval between them are needed to measure the distance travelled and extrapolate the speed. A video loop would carry more weight. You could just pop it on a disc and send it anonymously. Interestingly, more drivers seem to be installing video cameras in their cars to assist with evidence in case of accidents etc. How long before insurance companies won't pay up if you're shown to be speeding at the time? cry
