iPhone 5

I hope this update might help those pondering the upgrade to the iPhone 5. I have a MY09 AMV and the bluetooth connection is good and solid, tagging with the tracker also spot on.

The adaptor arrived today and I was hoping it might plug between the phone and the car connector for charging and music navigation. No charging sadly without the other adaptor bit, but naviagtion with all AM controls is just fine.

I hope that makes sense....

Do you mean you have to use the Apple adapter and the Scosche adapter to get it to charge?

Indeed, you need both the Scosche Adaptor and the iPhone 5 adaptor...its quite a 'stack'. I think I've attached a picture here...

Wow that's ridiculous. Makes me glad I'm sticking with a 4S. Does it even fit in the central compartment with all those bits?

On a side note, does anyone have the James@Paralight Denison Gateway 500 unit in their older Aston with an iPhone 5? At the moment it works perfectly with my 4S (allowing me to change tracks with my radio controls or if I prefer, navigate the tracks using the phone itself) so I dont want to get the iPhone 5, used with the adapter, and find that I can't do what I want with it.

George - I didn't bother trying to make it fit. I think at an angle, corner to corner it might squeeze in. I've gone back to an iPod for my music and the iPhone 5 is for Tracker Tag and calls over bluetooth.

That's exactly what I do. iPod classic is much better for music anyway imo, I can store loads more than my phone

I like using my iPhone for spotify and interweb radio - much more variety than I have on my iPod nano. I'd like to hear if people have tried the iPhone 5 with the Paralight Denison setup and succeeded in using spotify. Anyone?

I have a Dension and have an iphone 5. I'd buy the apple adapter just try it but the damned thing is a complete rip off!
I bought myself a 16gb iPod nano which I just leave in the car now.

Well, I bought it used from eBay so there was no additional revenue to apple.
I will not give apple any cash related to this adapter change. I have 4 Chinese made iphone 5 USB cables on preorder at just 4 quid each and will buy the adapters as soon as the cheaper copies are available.

I like plugging my iPhone in as I exclusively use Spotify for my music meaning an iPod isn't an option. I will await others verdicts before I take the plunge... If at all. The Lumia 920 looks quite nice
