Using an Aston Martin in this weather?

Hi,

My neighbour has a Vantage Roadster and I heard him start it up today and drive it out, when I looked out the window and saw the horrendous weather it made me think whether people really take out their P&J in this weather? I understand taking it out in the dry and being caught up in bad weather but when it is pretty much monsoon out there, with roads badly flooded and a lot of people not know how to drive in the wet, before you set off how many would take their Aston out in this weather rather than a run around like a Range Rover/Volvo/Merc/Audi?

Is an Aston not really a drive when it is dry/sunny/perhaps light rain.

Perhaps an Ulster or a 1 1/2 litre International. Or maybe even a DB2/4?

The Gaydon era cars are VERY modern, made to Ford's standards. They have traction control, ABS, airbags, rollover protection, fancy tyres and a non-rusting aluminuim chassis. They've been designed to be used in all weathers, they really really have.

In the pissing rain and darkness yesterday, I drove my '72 Alfa Spider to Bucks and back. Now THAT was the wrong choice of car for the job

I take mine out whatever the weather. It behaves a lot better in this weather now I've switched to the winter wheels and tyres.

Amazingly it's not going to disintegrate or leak. Short of down right stupidity the driving aids will make up for lack of driving ability on behalf of the driver

Just pressure wash it afterwards (unlike yeti )

Yep , use mine every day if needed here also - i don't own another car.

Do you really think the car will disintegrate because it's raining ?

Only ice or snow would put me off, then cos I have a car equipped with winter tyres for the job.
It lives outside too!

Me too, out in all weathers, might blag in the other half's L200 when it snows though...

The Aston IS my practical car after all!

another daily driver here. Last winter I skipped a couple of icy days, but the rest on regular tires. Will do the same this time.

My run-around is a push bike, so the Aston (even a roadster!) is definitely the preferred vehicle in this weather

As you'll see from this thread (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1214000), there's a wide variety of run-arounds and, despite the commonly held misconception, we're not all millionaires with a fleet including the obligatory RR / Merc / Audi / Volvo in the quadruple garage.

Some are though - apparently it helps being married to Mrs Gould

Cars are meant to be driven not hidden , bugger the weather unless it's completely reckless to do so and you'd knowingly endanger others lives.
