auful noise from N/S/F wheel area?

Nothing serious im sure, its done it a few times now, its booked in on wednesday at Stratstone wilmslow to be looked at but i always like to have an idea 1st.
It sounds like from time to time, the back plate is falling against the brake, auful metal tinny noise. You have to stop, stick it in reverse, then you hear it clunk and your good to go again.
It makes no change to the drive of the car, no vibration no feelings. Brakes work fine.
I tried to have a look but without getting it up and taking the wheel off teher isnt much you can see.
wasnt expecting to have to take it in after just a week of ownership but thats what the wonderful thing of warrenty is about

well that was my 1st guess but its done it 5 times in a week and its always the same wheel, it sounds too metalic to be a stone and when you reverse its a deffinate clunk.

ace, well i didnt think it would be anything major. It needs a couple of post purchase things looking at anyway so it still needs to go, plus ive been told im not allowed to jack the car up myself, i think the salesman knew what i was like haha.

I concur. It sounds like a very small stone is caught up. Happened to me on my volvo and I thought this is strange and it kept happening on and off, and then sometimes continually. And what was worse was when I took it round for them to check it and they drove it, nothing - which is typical. But they agreed to take my word for it and looked at it and lo and behold a small stone was caught causing the metallic abrasion noise. Good job really as I was bracing myself for something major!
Hopefully it is the same thing for yourself. Sadly the state of our roads (potholes, poor drainage, poor road surfaces) don't always lend themselves to beautiful cars, or any for that matter.

My DB9 had exactly this a few weeks ago - I, ofcourse, feared the worst. I limped to the side of the road - each time I attempted to inch forward I got an awful metallic scrapping noise from front OS wheel. I reversed a touch and that seemed to cure it. Hasn't come back so I assume it was just a stone caught somewhere near the brake disc.

I had similar on the rear. The handbrake pads had broken up. Getting out to check it I poked around a bit and the pad fell out.
I don't use the handbrake much and the car gets used in all weathers, so I expect it rotted before wearing out. Either that, or the pads structural longevity is dubious.
Regardless, if there is *any* suspicion that it might be the brakes and it's not easily fixed - ie you *know* what is causing it - I would not use the car. Brakes are way too important to take chances with.

ive only had the car for a week from a main dealer, its nothing serious im sure. Im pretty technically minded.

I expect them to want to keep it for a few days though because of a couple of other little bits ive mentioned, i dont need to car during the week so its all good
