DB5 Magic Price

I have just returned from the Classic Car Auction at Brightwells in Leominster. Lot 60 was a 1964 DB5 with an estimated sale price of £115000. Its last owner was the late Peter Walker of TVR fame. The car has been much fettled for use as a race car so I would estimate It would require £80,000 to £100.OOO to bring it up to concours condition. Imagine my amazement when it very quickly made £165,000 plus 10% commission plus V.A.T. Grand total £184,800. I felt really proud for the old girl.

I dream of a DB5 as a retirement gift to myself, god knows what they'll be worth then.

That estimate was a joke, but the actual ale price isnt too bad... expected well over 200k.

Perhaps the silly money for them is ending... I'd have kept that pretty much as it is, removed the cage, got some heated leather in there and enjoyed it as a fast road car. Who rolls a DB5 anyway

I did. Most mental single-marque series I have ever seen. Loved them

But back on topic I looked at that DB5 on their web site and it was always going to make well over the estimate, I almost bid myself but knew it wouldn't be worth it.

Nice history and some good work done to it... I'd say that found the right money! It's the 300 grand barn finds that make no sense to me

Probably because totally original, low mileage cars are rarer? If you were a collector (and I mean one that just stores the cars not drives them), you would want the lowest mileage, most original car possible. That's the only explanation I can think of
