Ho w do you remove the exterior door handle on a DB9?

Do any of you guys know how to remove the exterior door handle on a DB9? I thought it would be an easy job, but hasn't been.
I have got inside the door, removed the 3 nuts that hold the handle assembly to the door skin, then as I try & move the handle assembly from the studs I can't get enough clearance to get the plastic handle assembly off of the 3rd stud (thats the one furthest away as you look into the door. There is a metal bracket or something that is in the way, It might be part of the bracket that hold the lock barrel, but I am not sure.

I have not removed the window glass or the lock barrel, do these need to be removed? It is really tight on space in there & has really cheesed me off.

I need to change the handle as the handle LEDs have failed, you can't buy the LED separately!

Any help/suggestions would be apprciated

Do they all have LED's in the handles, I don't think mine does?

Early ones don't, they have clear plastic inserts which on later models have LED's behind them.

3200gt, thank you very much for the link, that's very kind of you. I just tried to go into it & my work computer fire wall is blocking it!! which is very frustrating as my own PC is knackered, so can't use it.
