From both an insider and outsider perspective, What could be achieved today if a leader as good as Mr Gauntlet was at the helm again..!
Comical comparisons.... My personal favourites are;
1958 when a privateer team in obselete level cars thrash the factory at the race track and finish ahead of them (winners of 2012 aston martin global challenge in GT4 car not even GT3 or GT1 and prepared by a certain indi outfit)
The old boy Dave Kitchen circling his quality control stamp at exactly the location today where new era cars bubble paint...
And the famous car that crashed on the way to lemans race circuit much the same as a certain dbs ended up in the bottom of a lake on the way to the bond film set...

Aw C'mon Mike Bamford , I never had you down as being cynical. I have just watched that clip, I thought it was Great. Mr. Clarkson conducted the whole programme with a big smile on his face . He concluded by claiming that Detroit made more cars in 3 hours than Aston have made in 80 years. How ironic then that 20 years on Detroit are in the doldrums. Aston Martin are in the shallow water waiting to crest that wave which is just over their shoulder. I for one wish them all the very best.

I for 2 Rob, and watching this program reminded how special the brand is and how great it is to be around the brand this very special 100 year birthday. Even happier days, With all the many millions poured into the company recently it should give them all they need to eclipse even the DB5. It would seem they didn't have the many millions as they do now back then to create the worlds most iconic car, just the desire to create a car to save the company.

Indeed.The primary reason I have just renewed my AMOC Membership tbh. There are going to be some centenary publications of some type I should imagine so I want to be in a position to say I was part of the marque at such a time.
Well, I've just watched it again . I for one think that every prospective purchaser be it old or new should be made to watch that film because that is what Aston ownership is all about. It is not about big numbers it is the thrill about owning an Aston Martin. I am slowly turning ,with the help of Bamford Rose my V8S into a car to challenge just about anything out there but it will be a sleeper, a little lower, a little louder , much sexier and mine. Forgot to mention 500bhp plus !
