V8 vantage driver door wont open from the inside?

Went out for a nice run in the vantage yesterday and stopped for some petrol. When I went to open the door to get out the handle just didnt do anything. No real sign of failure or indication this was going to happen. Its just not working.

I had to get the girlfriend to come round and open it from the outside for me like I was some kind of rockstar . She did this with great style and even closed it behind me. I then filled the car up with people staring in disbelief that I had her do this!

It opens from the outside just fine. Anyone else had this problem? seems like a cable or something has gone maybe.

Sounds like the cable has broken or one end has popped off. Check the FAQ at the top of the forum, look for "DB9 door cap removal" and follow the link. Pretty much the same procedure for a Vantage. There's a clip at the handle that may have come off. If not, you'll have to follow the cable back to the exterior handle.

You should have started fiddling with the door/handle and shouted "come on you bloody thing!" loudly - then people would know you weren't making her open the door for you. On the down side, they'd also know the door was shacgged !

You don't need to remove the door cap. The door pull bar is held on by 2 obvious screws, undo these and pull the bar away. The door release cable is connected to the handle by a simple T shaped clip. If this has come out somehow, it is very simple to reconnect it.

If it is not this end of the cable, it is a harder job but this is the best place to start, it's very easy. Hope that helps and hopefully it is a simple fix...

I had this issue with the passenger door on my V8VR just now, it would not open from the inside or outside.
I noticed the window was not dropping when the door handle was pulled to enable the door to open
All that was required was a window reset (see page 11.42 in the owners manual)

Ice27 is correct. Take the door handel off, it's only 2 screws, there is a cable that is connected to the handle, bet you it's just come off. As Aston Martin DIY goes, this is nice and easy stuff

I had a van once where the doors wouldnt open from the inside...

Roses are red, violets are blue... get in the van ive got a knife!!
