Hi Guys

Just purchased V8 Vantage 2007, wow what a machine.

Got my handbook out and noticed "Gear Shift Indication Display" display icon in my handbook

When I reverse the "R" illuminates but it does not illuminate to tell me current gear has reached its upper rev limit

Is this an optional extra? Or is there a on switch ?

Cannot not find anything else in handbook or Grants book

Thanks in advance

Dark silver, with kestrel interior pictures to follow soon

Hi and welcome, brilliant cars you'll love it!
You don't say if it is a manual or SS, mine is a manual MY2010 and that Vera display you are talking about lights a series of little marks as it approaches the red line for engine revs. I presume it's to warn you that the red line is approaching, but I have to say the odd time I've revved hard like that, all of my attention was on the rapidly changing view ahead of me!

Best of luck with the car!

Thanks for the prompt reply

It is a manual, so does it only illiminate if I drive it hard and am near the rev limit ?

Just took it out for a spin, what a beautiful sound, I haven't taken the fuse out yet. A bloody yob pulls out in front of me wheel spins and covers my bonnet grille and windscreen in wet mud. I felt like crying

Never mind my New Years resolution is to stay calm

Hi Nat, a manual will indeed display a growing red indication starting at about 7k rpm. Only gear indication will be R for reverse. Well, mine does anyway! 2006 manual 4.3

Thanks Mark

I can sleep easier tonight now.

Mind you can't wait to hit the 7k revs

Its got 3 lines. Which light up sequentially the closer you get to the red line. Once you reach the red line and try to exceed it your engine explodes!!!!

OK, ignition cut outs out so you might as well change gear.
Bloody brilliant cars. Get that fuse out. Empty the tank, fill with 98 RON then do a cold start. Hilarious sound. smile

I did not know about it until I was giving it full whack whilst taking a mate for a whizz in mine - "oh er missus, it lights up red !"

Me too actually! Because it sounds sooo gorgeous well before the limit, I rarely get up there when on normal roads. Well that's my story anyway officer... cool

If you have your foot down then the red bars aren't lit for very long, they revs are going up quickly after about 7k.

The rev limited is aggressive too, and makes you feel like a prat if it cuts in smile

I like the sound of the Kestral Tan interior... Always wonder if I'd have been brave enough to spec if?

Look forwards to pics. Once you get used to the car, on a very dry road, a warm day and not too much else out there you'll see the red bars! But shift as soon as you see them or you'll bounce off the limiter almost immediately yes
