I want to get some carpet over mats for my car. I will more than likely go for the Aston version. I know what everyone will say, you can get the equivalent type mats cheaper, or go to "The Vantage Collection". I e-mailed them a few times got one reply and then haven't received anything since, even though I have asked a couple of questions.

Has anyone purchased the Aston mats, I know I can get them in matching colour to my carpet, but are they easy to fit? I understand that they come with a fixing kit??

Any help would be great, thanks.

I bought a set for the DBS and as far as I can remember they're simply a copy of the std mat.

I retained my mats from my 1st Vantage, they only had six months use. In black , make me an offer and I will post to you.

I have not yet had anything done, but met a guy at the NEC classic car show last November who is prepared to custom make a set for me for my Vantage. Thing is I have red carpets, so the normal black mats seen ( or the rather bright colours otherwise seen) are not what I am looking for. My carpet is more a maroon red, not sure of the correct name.

They were prepared to make to my template and send me sample of the carpet - a Jaguar colour, to check before making for around £100 or so, exact price to be confirmed.

I just need to get around two making a decent template. Had a go but was not happy with it.

I have VC mats in my car and they are fantastic quality. Ignore Rob, his mats will smell of Chriswhistle

I bought a set from scuderiacarparts.com last month for a Rapide - original Aston Martin but at a very good rate.

If anyone has purchased the Aston over mats, can they tell me how they attach to the actual car carpets, is there a fixing system/screws/clips?

cheers.

they fasten with 2 round push through and turn fasteners. The lower one fastens to origanal floor carpet. Easy enough

actually when you realise how easy it would be to change the carpet pieces up front you wonder about the logic of just putting another pair of very expensive carpets on top

They come with 2 plastic fixing nubs which are square. These screw into the carpet (under the seat edge). The mat has square holes which then fits over the nubs and then a large diameter plastic washer locks them into place with a 1/4 turn.

I took my mats out after a week of use because they shift around too much at the front edge since they are not held in place by anything, and I found the heel/scuff protector to be in the wrong place, if you will. I kept getting the heel of my shoe caught on the rear edge when using the clutch. I replaced them with a set at half the price which has those little plastic nubs or spikes on the bottom surface that hold the mat in place perfectly, plus no wear pad to annoy me.

Thanks for your help. If you didn't like the Aston ones, where did you get your other set from?

Interestingly there are a set of the Genuine Aston Martin ones in the Aston Classifieds parts section (as well as some other bits, locking nuts, battery conditioner, spare tyres, would make a great starter kit imo!) wink

I have the original Aston mats. They're very nice, the carpet itself is quite nice, but... the plastic/rubber heel pad cracked after only about 2500 miles, which was obviously very disappointing. I recently got a set from the Vantage Collection -- they're nicely made and fit very well.

Do a search for Lloyd matts. I got a deluxe set for the V8V and they are very luxurious and reasonably-priced. Got it on recommendation from Jay Leno who uses them on a lot of his cars.

Vantage Collection mats are excellent quality. Nicholas is usually pretty good at getting back via email. Pic of mine
