Help need with choosing new Aston wheels

Hi Everyone,

I’m planning on ordering a another set of wheels for the Aston and as they are custom made set of forged ones so I can pretty do what I want . The ones I’m looking at are very similar to the current V12 Vantage GT3 race car (see below and attached), which I like the look of (If I’m honest I’d like to have the whole car).

Size:
19"x9.0j F with 255/35-19 Michelin PSS
19"x11.0j R with 295/30-19 Michelin PSS

I like the idea of gloss black centers though I could have matt or semi gloss or even the same as the body colour of the car (Onyx black, lots of metallic).

As for the lip I’m torn between the polished one which would look great until dirty and gun metal which is sort of titanium colour which I think would look good when clean and with break dust on them.

As for center caps I could do black though I much prefer the idea of them matching the lip. In any case they’ll come with the Aston Martin logo on them.

I don’t want blingy boy racer look, more the sleek, powerful, slightly understated look.

So the choices are:

Center:
Gloss
Semi Gloss
Matt
Body Colour

Lip:
Polished
Gun Metal / Titanium

Center Caps:
Black
Matching the lip

they look nice with the black centres and polished rims but hard to keep clean. mine are stainless so easier, just a wipe after a pressure wash does it

Swiss - they are georgous, on their own you look at them and I'm unimpressed, put them on the car and the wheels look totally different. IMO I think they are great, You are asking about some very individualistic personalisation on the wheels, and none of us are qualified to answer the question, "what do you like". Other than the overall look of the wheels are fab.

If you don't mind asking, how much did they cost?

Also, may I ask why you chose 19 inch, when if you have 20 inch would it not open up the tyre choice?

Also, can you not consider wider wheels to allow wider tyres etc? I'm not certain, but I think you can get up to 275 on the front and up to 335, maybe even 355 on the back. I would not normally consider this, but if the wheels are custom made and the world is your oyster, width / offset etc, then can you not at least ask the question?

djmac, do you know what size wheels they are 21 inch 22 inch? looks like they have filled the wheel arch completely, perfect IMO, do you know tyre sizes?

Aren't the tire diameters too small? After all, you are essentially proposing to use DBS width/profile tires, but on a one inch smaller wheel. Seems like you either need 20 inch wheels or 40/35 tires if sticking with 19 inchers.

you certainly can with a vank and i agree totally. why not. i am running 20's

There are different wheels used on some of the AM race cars.

They look very good. Those in silver would be spot on.

They aren't monster truck sized either which is a good thing, and as another benefit of that, the car will ride properly.

Interesting comments. I did forget to mention that they are going an V8V S hence the 19”. With so may people saying that 20” ones ruin the ride and a large debate on the look I thought I’d stay away from them

I’ve already have a set of the GT4 wheels you see above. They are 18X10 on the front, 18X13 on the rear. There’re magnesium made by OZ for AMR. I’ve got Yokohama A048’s on them but you can order them with slicks or rain tires as well. They only come in anthracite as you see here.

They’re 18” simply because there is a much larger selection of 18” track tires.

Swiss. You run 10 inch and 13 inch wheels on a V8, that throws the whole, "will they, won't they", issue about wide wheels fitting up in the air. You mean that 13 inch wide wheels will fit under the V8, and by default the DB9.

they dont equate to the same OD but on a vanky they arent supposed to which is a common mistake.
a mistake made on mine when i took delivery of it. kept getting the traction system cutting in even when i was in a straight line hoofing it. techies spent ages trying to work out was wrong. a little while later wheile they were still thinking about it i went to replace the tyres and was looking at what makes etc and Le Man Phil spotted the error. was fine after that.

Sorry I stand corrected, GT4 wheels I have are as follows:

F 18x10E45.5
R 18x11E48 (sorry the 13" ones are on another of my cars)

Tires:

These are a compromise on the DBS Alloys but at £2600 including tyres a cheaper option

Even if I must say so myself,looking through this topic, it is becoming a tiny bit boy racerish.
