Vantage Hatch Drainage

For those who dare to drive in the rain (or through flood waters ) although I imagine it could equally apply to those of you who have ocd.

Picture below should describe better but water seems to fall off the hatch when it's opened at the points indicated by the arrows. Happens on both sides. Water then ends up in the boot / on the parcel shelf / over stuff in the boot which is vaguely annoying. Is it a case of poor design / TADTS or is it possible that I've got a drainage hole blocked?

There is a mod that a dealer can fit that puts a v-shaped rubber strip down each side of the hatch and directs the water away down to the back. I have it and it works pretty well. Not 100% but a lot better.

Cost about £30.

This really is a pain in the arse. It's a great piece of design.

Mine came with the V-shaped strips (MY10), but still does it.

If you open the hatch quickly, the water tends to fall into the rain gutters, if you're gentle with it, more of the water drops into the boot.

Its a great combination with an umbrella at the far end of the boot, held in with tight leather straps, and part concealed behind the amp if you have B&O. By the time you get it out, both you and the inside of the car are drenched. You'd never want to get to the umbrella whilst its raining, so I find I have an expensive umbrella that I can't use in the rain. Hmmm.

I also had said problem, dealer put the strips on under warranty as it's a known fault, so if your still in warranty?

Did the job for me...........
