Hi everyone,
I guess the question has already been asked on this forum, but I haven't been able to find this answer thru the search engine, so was wondering if anyone could help
Which audio file format should I use to burn CDs to play them on the CD player of a 2007 4.3L V8 Vantage ?
It seems the OEM player won't read mp4 format
Could I I use rewritable CDs ? Or do I have to settle for non rewritable disks ?

I'm pretty sure it's just an audio CD player, so you would need to burn an audio cd as there is no native decoding in the unit. This will mean .cda extensions. There should be a burn audio cd option on your computer for these non copyrighted items that you wish to burn. You will be limited to 77 minutes of audio per disc since standard 1440 kps data will be used.

I download tracks from my iTunes library onto a blank cd and they work just fine!!

Basically, if you just burn loads of mp3 tracks to a disk, it will not be able to read the disk and will not play them.I download tracks from my iTunes library onto a blank cd and they work just fine!!
If you do as you have with iTunes and burnt a disk, you will see that the disk will only let you have 10 or 12 tracks on the disk depending on the size of the track (in minutes) When the disk is burnt in this way, it puts the tracks in a readable CD format, so most CD players can read the track and information and play the track.
So if you have been doing it in iTunes and it works, keep doing it that way. If you use any other CD burning software, just use the option to burn an audio disk, that way it will make the disk readable by CD players.
The other thing is the type of CD disks you use, but that is another story, just basic CDr’s will be sufficient.

Ice27, I tried doing what you did....but with little success. Is your car a 4.7L ? If so, then the CD player must be more elaborate than that on my car......Lucky you ! Looks like I.m going to have to reformat my entire music library....What a pain.....

No need to change your music library, just use good burning software such as Nero Burning ROM. Ice27, I tried doing what you did....but with little success. Is your car a 4.7L ? That's what I use, just select burn an audio disk and add what you want on the CD until it states that disk is full then burn it. Job done.Edited by bomberh on Saturday 19th January 14:29
Hello! Your car will quite happily play CD-R's it's all about how you make them.
- An MP3 CD contains .mp3 files. It will not play this.
- An audio CD contains .wav files. It will play those.
As suggested by others, if you don't want to use iTunes, most other good cd burning software (nero etc) will convert your audio files to .wav in order to burn them.

Just checking, do you know about the USB interface in the centre console? (I can't remember if all cars have this as standard or if it's an option. Mine is the 4.3 V8V)
Instead of burning to CDs with limited space and being limited to having 6 CDs in the changer, you can get a portable hard disk drive and plug it in to the adapter. I have a 500GB drive so all my music is available in the car
