Replacing V8 Vantage Windscreen

Has anybody had the windscreen replaced on their V8 Vantage Roadster / Coupe?
AM quoted £1,554
I suspect mine is leaking and causing water ingress
The AM dealer said
"Check the chassis number observation panel on the screen passenger side. If there is condensation there it means there is a leaking screen".
Mine has condensation at the VIN observation panel and also noticed condensation at the two bottom corners of the screen.
Replacement windscreen excess is £75 (no affect on no claims bonus) but no doubt Admiral Insurance will want to go through their
own people (Autoglass?)
Anybody experienced getting a replacement from say Autoglass or do I insist the insurance get an an AM dealer to fix it?

Had mine replaced through Admiral. Stone hit the top edge, chipped and cracked all in one. National windscreens IIRC are Admirals chosen company. Dropped it off at their nearest site to me, and got a lift to the nearest station by the technician who was going to do the job, he admitted he'd never done an Aston before 
Picked it up later the same day, all perfect. The guy only had one job all day - my csr! He was their senior guy, not some kid.
Took over a week whilst they ordered in the windscreen from Aston.
There is more than one part number, depends on year etc as mine is a heated screen.

Not quite the same, but I got a badly chipped windscreen on my RS4 replaced at an Audi dealer on the insurance.
It was still done by an independent fitter but Audi arranged it so I had comeback with them if it was a less than perfect job. Although it was a perfect job so no worries anyway!
So you should be able to get it done at an Aston dealer I'd have thought.

If you search around on the net for peoples experiences with the insurers nominated suppliers you will find as you have here that some people have had some nightmares and some people have had no problems, therefore it would be safe to assume that screen fitting is some sort of a LOTTERY and whether you get someone who knows what they are doing is simply pot luck. Be aware however that this whole issue of insurers nominating their own suppliers is based on PRICE so you are in essence compromising the job by agreeing to let their supplier do it. Furthermore if it is leaking that would call into question how it ended up leaking in the first place? do you know the history of the car? I would guess that at some point someone did a screen on it and that is the reason for its current leak ( if any)
I would also call into question whether a leak is covered by your insurance. This is surely not anything to do with accidental damage which is what your insurance is there to cover? So be very careful what you say to your insurer as they will log and record everything you say and if they initially deny the claim and you then change your story and have it done for another reason that will look suspicious and you could get a black mark on your clims history and this fact will be recorded on the CUE database which all insurers have access to and you do not.
If there is a leak it may be possible to find it unltrasonically by having a sender unit in the car and "sniffing" around the edge of the screen to see if there is any air coming out whith the signature sound. How silly will you feel if it is simply a door seal that is faulty and not the screen?!
Also dont think that just because you only have to pay a £75 and it doesnt affect your NCB that it is "free", be aware that a £1500 claim will be logged on your claims history and although it doesnt affect your no claims bonus IT MAY AFFECT YOUR FUTURE PREMIUMS either with Admiral or with any other insurer as you are duty bound to disclose this claim to any future insurer and they will load the policy premium for this risk accordingly.
It may be possible also to remove the screen carefully and glue it back in properly and i would seek out the services of "glassman" on this forum. He would also be you man for the screen if it needed replacing BUT if you want to control the job then be prepared to PAY YOURSELF AND RECLAIM IT as this is the only way. Glassman did my Alfa and he let me watch the whole job and explained every step in detail and i can honestly say the job was better than the factory fit when it was finished. I paid for it myself and claimed it back from Admiral. They tried to argue that they would only pay £100 but i mentioned that it is ILLEGAL as it breaches the Competition Act 1998 by applying dissimilar trading conditions to different suppliers. Admiral nominate Auto Windscreens and National Windscreens as their preferred suppliers both of whom will be on some kind of average invoice deal (average invoice price deals usually exclude classic/vintage/supercars/etc). It is very likely that the cost of a replacement screen (via this route) will be expensive and as zapmc has already mentioned, will be noted against your history on the CUE database. It may not affect your NCD, but may well have a bearing on any future quotes.

Autoglass are not normally structured to offer subcontract work to garages as they tend to want to deal direct with the end user. Dealers will also want to employ a glass company that will fit original glass to manufacturers standards and associated parts (if they dont do it themselves).
