Some guys in a hot hatch did their best to catch up on the M53 near Chester and started taking pictures of the car and a big thumbs up. After a couple of snaps I floored it and I could see their car visibly shaking in the rearview mirror from the noise

I went for a blast out today too! Great fun, absolutely freezing (ice warning kept popping up on the dash) but roof was down all the way.

I actually met a nice policeman too, who asked if I wanted to swap cars whilst I was filling up with fuel. Usually all the coppers I deal with are complete knobs.

The car is filthy though now and it's too cold to clean it

Wonderful - a dry sunny day at last. I can hardly remember the last one.

For only the second time since November, my toy was started.
Sun was out, but so were all the other motorists. Traffic dreadful.
Did manage a few times, to check the acceleration still works.

Everything on the car is operating correctly, including the gearchange warning light!

It was a gorgeous drive from Kettering to Derby (where I train on Saturdays). Very dry, quite warm and fairly traffic free (except for the unlucky M1 southbound at at 21....

Silly boy and his mrs in a celica GT4 just passing Leicester Forest services was really heckling me to race (proper tailpipe chasing in the SLOW LANE!)
I waited till we passed the slip road of the services, just as he pulled out to overtake, then bolted off.
Approx 5 mins later (having felt satisfied I taught him a lesson in maths - old 4 cylinders does not beat new 8 cylinders) he flew past me at what must have been 120+ and off into the M1 northbound horizon.

Until another few minutes later when I passed him on the hard shoulder with a blacked out Octavia RS with flashing blues n reds parked up behind him.

Made my day that did!

Blast through Edinburgh with the roof down - cold but sunny. Gave it some beans off the lights and got the DSC needs a service warning lighting up on the speedo which I duly ignored. Anybody had this ?
I have just put a new battery in (380 pounds fitted !!! ) and as a result I appear to have no DSC and I am now allowed to go much faster because KPH has replaced MPH in the speedo - dealer reset I assume for both issues ?

Yes and Yes. Nowt to worry about, most on here turn the traction control off anyway.

no..cant remember which two buttons to press and hold but its in the manual
edited to add i think its the 'read' and info scoll button on end of indicator stalk - hold till display changes with ignition on

Actually talking of valets.....have got paddy here (locked in the garage until he is finished - 12 hours and counting so far ) giving the car a bit of his magic. I have been as sceptical as the next guy(or girl) about the virtues of detailing. BUT have to say the difference really shows - no matter how much hand polishing you do then a machine polish is well worth it. two'n'six and a chicken is a fair price for a days work for anyone
