My search for a V8V in Meteorite/Sandstorm - help

Having trawled various web sites, forecourts, auctions you name it, I haven't been able to find a 2008 on wards V8 Vantage with a Meteorite Silver exterior and Sandstorm interior (manual coupe).

I have been searching for nearly two years to find the right car and have only come close on one occasion. Now I'm beginning to think it may never happen and so would anyone be able to give any indication as to how many vehicles were made that fit this specification or if anyone has/knows someone that has a car in this spec.

I'd love to just see one and know it exists.

Plenty of Meteorites V8V's out there (we used to have one). Erm, maybe you are worrying just a little too much about interior colour when you could be out there enjoying AM ownership with the rest of us

Depressing isn't it. You'd think suicide black was the only interior leather colour

One thing you may not have thought of... a partial retrim? A partial trim would take the centre sections of the seats and the door cards and replace the suicide black with sandstorm, or any other choice you make. Costs around 1000-1500 quid, if you find the right car (possibly with a tatty interior!) and get a good deal on it, it may not sting that much.

Nick had his DBS done with red alcantara. It looks very special

If you're that set on sandstorm (lovely colour, only seen it twice!)- just get a retrim. You're better off (IMHO) getting a sound car with a good history, then tailoring it to your taste. Easily done too! Don't go another year without an Aston on your driveway...

There will be very few Meteorite with Sandstorm interior. You tend to see Sandstorm in a non Meteorite coloured car. Meteorite is a favourite for a dealer spec'ed car, hence they will have a tasteful black interior. Nothing wrong with a black interior, just make sure its got a light coloured interior roof (typically Taylors grey) Black with coarse silver stitching highlights the interior and the work that goes into hand stitching the leater.

Bearing in mind what Nick paid for his inserts alone, would a guess of £2k be too low, or is this one of those yikes moments ??

For a full retrim in Bridge of Weir leather... Works Service would probably charge you 8k+, I would imagine a good leather shop would do it for 4 or 5. My Lotus for a total retrim cost about 4k I think, Marcos 3.5k, Alfa 1200. The hides are suprisingly inexpensive, it's the labour and of course there may be an 'Aston tax' thrown in for good measure...

Agreed, in spite of your atroshus spelink.

I'm wary of too many colours, and the 'harlequin' effect, but certainly the above interior, and Retman's new vents, are very effective

Normally I'd agree, but I don't think the contrast works with black and such a light colour i.e. sandstorm. Works really well with stuff like black and red, black and blue etc.

I'd look at just doing the seats in sandstorm and leaving everything else as it is.

Needs doorcards doing as well otherwise it just looks like the seats have been dropped in from another car!

RARE SPECIFICATIONS.
Obviously finding an existing car in the specification that you want (if there is one), will be cheaper than a retrim.

When I was looking for a rare specification Vantage, I first asked HQ how many had been made. Their answer was 1, so I revised my original idea (Sportshift to manual).

I was lucky and did eventually manage to find what I wanted, although I have still only ever seen 2 for sale. At two years you have certainly been patient. It took me one year.

You mentioned 2008 on. Presumably you are referring to September 2008 on (ie 4·7).

It is not always easy to find the right person at Gaydon who will help, but it may be worth a try.

Good point! I'd still leave the carpets and dash black though. I like the contrast between carpet and seat

Lower half re-trim, leaving the black upper, would be comparatively straight forward I’d imagine.

I wouldn’t be entirely put off at those prices, but the finish would have to look ‘factory’ and the stitching done by a seamstress with binocular vision.
