I bought a dealer (new style) leather swatch for £35 from the factory in Lords Red, the colour of my interior
I used the advice of some others on the forum to contact ABP in Paris to make me a strap out of the leather. They have used a stitch on the strap to match the contrast stitch I have in the bulk of the interior, however the quilted offcut in the photo has a matched stitch (again as per the car).
Obviously the fact I have a dark coloured V12V with a lords red/piano black/CF interior influenced why I now have a V12V Amvox in black with lords red strap & black buckle ! I am really pleased I didn't go for the other V12V version of the Amvox 5 with rose gold detailing instead of titanium, as it would have clashed with the strap
There were many options on speccing the strap and I can highly recommend ABP who were excellent. I chose a black conventional buckle (the watch came with a clasp on the OEM black strap) to keep things simple. You can't tell in the photos, but the strap is heavily padded, with the outside edges (and the inside edges to the large racing style holes) being dyed in a matching red. The strap has a black calf lining on the inside

...that is taking obsession to a completely different level.....
although in order to be really cool you should have shown your watch strap to AML and then have them produce the car interior to match. (maybe that is the storyline from here anyway).

I wouldn't disagree ! I don't know whether to be pleased or embarassed about it !!! I will say that along with Ian & Graham, I've been waiting a long long time for this car to happen and it's an absolute keeper, so the last few finishing touches seem like chickenfeed (in terms of time) just for the sake of completion

you jest. I was at one stage discussing a leather interior and brake callipers (both in Hermes orange) in 'sample to match'.....they would happily do the leather, but the callipers would have been very very costly indeed - something to do with passing safety tests

To be fair, they had a couple of off-cuts of the diamond quilted stitch leather that we (the dealer) asked for and received with the car - that is the backdrop in the photo and was free. But I actually bought a total of 2 leather samples and 1 paint sample (again the new style, so in the shape of a car). I'm keeping 1 leather sample and the paint sample just for 'completeness' and the other sample I used for the watch strap but may do other bits with it too, like a key pouch - there's plenty left over
I'm also thinking of an ipad pouch with the quilted leather and using some of the plain leather as a fastening strap for it - the new style leather samples actually have a magnetic closure bit that could work quite well for that. For now though, I'm done ! I just want to enjoy the car :-)
Is that a hairline crack I can see on the face of that watch. I'll give you fifty quid for it....... All marked bills obviously
