Whats the cost to upgrade a DB9. Your thoughts please.

Hi Guys,
Sorry to start my second different topic in a week but was interested to get you knowledgable blokes opinions(bad English there)
Right, my car a 2006 DB9 Volante in Black perfect nothing wrong with it condition,all usual faults rectified, 20400k miles, 1 previous owner, due a service in April so £1000 plus there.No warranty.
The offered car by an Aston dealer, 2008 DB9 Volante in Grey 13600 miles,2 owners from new,will be serviced before collection,years warranty obviously,my clear lights and piano black facia swopped over.
How much would you give to swop the cars over?
I am in a quandry as I dearly love my car and it always turns heads wherever it is driven,thanks in part to Paddy`s detailing,but should I look to change with the newer model,warranty,fully serviced car for X amount.Dealer is really keen to do a deal as I have sent pictures to them so looking for inspiration from you Guys.
So tell me if you think I am mad or how much you would give to swop, if at all.
There is a sensible amount it would be madness not to change them over for and thats the figure I feel you intelligent well versed boys and girls(all two of you at the last count) can come up with.

Tarks, shame on you for thinking of swapping your baby over for a newer (grey, NOT black, but very grey) model.

Either way, whatever deal you do, don't let the dealer sell you any of their paint protection rubbish. In fact, tell them not to prep it at all and I'll come over and do it properly.

It's fairly easy to work out the cost to change..... Dealer will off lower than bottom book on your car, and will want higher than top book on the one you're buying..
Can't give you figures as I don't know the book prices..... But if cost to change is less than £15k I'll eat my hat..... And video it

Paddy I am working on something and will buzz you tomorrow.May be a Lexus Rx450h but I know you are not fussy.
Improvements on 2008 model are front parking sensors, 700watt stereo upgrade,memory seats ,increase of speed to 186mph,better bluetooth,bigger boot by 30 litres,two stage seat heating,automatic boot from key fob and a bigger turning circle!!!! etc so worthwhile upgrades generally (Grant your book makes good bog reading material)

Down to the nitty gritty, Mr Lunablack hopes its a pork pie hat as the opening bid from them is £15k to change.There is plenty of room there as they are desperate to know what I want to pay which I have been coy on but I feel a £10k change is a figure that makes it worthwhile what with the service due and a years warranty.This would mean,in effect I am looking to pay £7.5k to swop vehicles.
Personally I think I would be looking at them coming down to around the £12k or £13k mark.

You will get a lot more add-ons with the V8V for the same money but I wonder if there is any solid empirical evidence of people transferring from a DB9 to a V8V

This wasn't an AM dealer by the way....
But I'd done my sums, I'm not daft, and within a couple of £k I know what my car would trade at, and then retail at...
I explained to the dealer that I fully expected him to make a reasonable profit on my car, and if he would work with me, I would do a deal there and then... I was completely up front..
His figures and my figures were £6k apart
... He said he'd work with me and the offered less than bottom book, whilst his car was at the top of the price bracket...... No middle ground whatsoever...I'd have preferred it if he'd just said I don't want another AM in stock..
You are spot on with your £10k I am spending 7k at BR to upgrade to switchable suspension plus full major service for a near identical 2006 Volante because I am happy with everything except the ride and I frankly don't want to invest more than that for what is essentially the same car.

lucky I chose Bitter Chocolate for a few of the interior shots 
It is a personal choice thing Tarquin, those upgrades are well worth having (the Premium audio is fab/usb iPOD useful) personally I love the new seats as well. If your negotiations are right the price seems fair for a car two years younger...... But...... If you were going for your first Volante and choosing between the two I would lean heavily towards the 08MY car, but as you already have a Volante then you really want to take as big a step as possible to truly give you that new car feel. So your ideal step would be to the 09MY with better rigidity, more power and the new console/HDD sat-nav in addition to all the other changes. The larger the step the higher the new car feel will be, of course that means more dosh......
If I was you I'd go down give it a good test drive and see if you fall for the car, you'll know how you feel once you get back in yours and drive home... Best of luck

Anyway back to the topic,I cannot go to a 09 model as they would be around £20k/£25k plus upgrade,which is unjustifiable.I have said to the dealer that £15k is out of the question by at least a third so thanks anyway.He wants me to go back to him which means he is prepared to deal but I am looking for you guys to either push or pull from the edge of changing. Would £9.5k be too good not to do?
One factor is my car is Black on black on black as Paddy says and looks gorgeous if I say so myself, whereas the 08 car is dark grey which I am just the slightest bit hesitant with but tempted by newer model,less miles,warrantied and serviced etc.
I will see how things pan out this afternoon and resign myself to maybe looking at a Boy racer N400 V8V.....controversial!!!!!!By the way has the sportshift improved on the 2008 V8V or do they still kangaroo??
Tarks, glad you enjoyed the book (now on the 5th edition)and I'm glad a fellow Aston Martin addict could be of assistance, there is always great advice from the guys and gels on PH.
I can understand that you don't want to invest the extra cash in an 09MY at the moment, but the gap will narrow over time, so worth keeping an eye out

If you go the Vantage route I would definitely stretch to a 4.7 09MY rather than paying near that for an N400.

N400's do seem to command a premium but the 4.7 (especially with Sport Pack) is a better car
