Hi,

I'm planning on swapping the existing (rather weak) interior lights on my vantage with LED bulbs, the new bulbs arrived yesterday so I am going to get them fitted this afternoon, however I know I need to remove the pod behind the rear view mirror to swap the map lights. I remember looking originally and noticing the mirror is attached with a Torx head bolt and was wondering if someone could let me know what size Torx head it is as I wanted to pick up the correct tool while I am out this morning and forgot to check before I left the car at home

Thanks in advance!

I replaced all my interior circular pod lights including the map lights using the same technique for all. Carefully prise the far edges of the whole unit (grey edging) and they just pop out with the bulb/lens in situ.

yep, reading lights just pop out. I used a suitably sized flat head screwdriver with the head wrapped in a microfiber cloth so not to cause any marks

thanks for the advice, got them swapped no problem. I've done all the rest of them now apart from the lights in the bottom of the doors. Anyone have any advice on accessing them? do the lenses just pop out like the ones in the boot or do I have to remove the cover along the bottom of the door card?

thanks!

Which type of bulbs are you using to replace the interior lights and the ones in the doors?
Can you let me know what the number/name of each bulb is?
I take it there are just the two by the mirror and the ones in each door?
Has it made a difference changing them?

Ok here's the complete list (this is for a Vantage)
WLED-CW6 (Cool White) - Map Lights
WLED-WHP (Cool White) - Foot well ambient lighting
4210-CWHP6 (Cool White - Boot lights
3710-CWHP6 (Cool White - Door lights

All were purchased from a company called superbrightleds in the states - you can probably source them from the UK too but this was the place I was recommended.

I haven't been able to observe the full effect at night yet as I have only just installed them, but its instantly noticeable that the light is much whiter and stronger than before and gives a much more modern look that the previous bulbs which give off a very yellow light.

Next job: removing the big plastic lump the front number plate is attached to!

think it will be a big improvement for a very cheap upgrade. quite easy to install too, the only ones that are a pain are the foot well lighting which were quite tricky as they are mounted up behind the dash.

I have searched for the above bulbs, but the searches keep coming up negative. I must be doing some thing wrong?

Thanks for the information anyway.

Does anyone have a link to any of these bulbs in the UK?

Give this a go :

http://www.superbrightleds.com/search/led-products...

If that works you should be able to find the others from there

I would worry about doing this job. I managed it in 10 mins to do all the interior lights including number plate.

Buy the bulbs on Ebay and it will cost around £10 to do all interior lights (10 bulbs including number plate on a DB9 Volante)

and rear number plate lights (these are the only ones you need to be careful on as they should be slightly shorter.Link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290861728281#ht_1215wt_9...

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but does having brighter interior lights reduce your night vision when you start driving, when compared with Swan / Edison technology?

Possibly, if you measured it scientifically there. May be a few seconds difference.
All you need to know about night vision....

More importantly, the interior LEDs look SOOOO much cooler!!!! cool

So do these bulbs (top link) fit all the interior lights (reading, door, footwell etc) and are they the same bulb for each? are they easy to fit on a V8V? Are they better than what is already present or are they just for longevity rather than brighter lights?

This previous thread gives links for the Vantage bulbs. Map lights and toot well lights are the same.
The difference is dramatic. A MUCH better effect, a cheap and simple upgrade!!!

These fitted my DB9 and sure the V8V have same interior light set up

Much, much better light given with the LED.

Try it you won`t regret it.

Replaced all interior lights in my DBS with LEDs (including the two in the trunk), and it looks much much better (and in line with the white dashboard lights and buttons, the "original" yellow lights are completely out of place imho).

Simple upgrade for less than US$ 50 in total! smile
