More "No can do" from 'Q'

Being the Centenary year, I thought I'd ask 'Q' to embroider, just below the Aston Martin wings on the headrests, something along the lines of the attached,,,1913 on the drivers and 2013 on the passengers side. The answer, after the mandatory 3 weeks waiting was: “Q” special product order department have been flatly told no to any Centenary numbers or script!

Well thats nice of them isn't it and I thought we were all going to be able to join in the celebrations,,,happy souls at 'Q'aren't they.

I really don't understand, you pay your money and pick what you want from the listings. If you want something extra or different then that's down to you as long as you are willing to pay the extra to have it done.
I can understand them refusing if it brings the brand down, but with in reason if it is something that you like and your paying, then it should be " yes sir, we can do that for you."
At the end of the day they are engineers they know the cars, if I want something and I am paying, they should be bending over backwards to help me.

It is odd that feedback seems to be headed this way, lots of slow responses, "no" or crazy prices. Surely Q need to stack up vs. Bamford Rose and the like to have a viable business? Are they busy from selling stuff to the far east markets perhaps?

I would just like to add, I'm pretty useless with Corelpaint, the - 1913 - as it appears on my free hand effort in the 'sample' picture, is far less discrete than I would like the finished article to appear. I'll have find someone to produce a more professional 'proof'.
te requests they must get from Arabs etc. shame they wont take your money... maybe you should take it as a sign?
If you are interested in doing anything bespoke for the interior trim, depending on where you are based, there are two companies i have been talking to about doing the interior on an old R107 300SL that i am restoring.
No affiliation with them at all, but the first website and craftsmanship looked amazing when i visited their workshop late last year. http://www.coachtrimmers.com/
The other is http://www.dclass.co.uk/ again super helpful on the phone - but didnt visit them personally.
Both have been highly recommended by other garages who only do mechanical, and also by merc/ferrari forums I scouted and asked about for my own purposes. I am sure o-rourke will do it without a problem for you - but there is a waiting list to get cars booked in.

Because he's bought a brand new car in the centenary year of the marque and would like to commemorate it...You're not alone in your dislike/disgust, I just don't see where it's being directed from. I think it's quite a nice idea, really don't understand why Aston have said no... unless they're going to use the idea on centenary cars?
Perhaps in this particular case, 'Q' has been instructed not to entertain any requests for centenary scripts as Aston are hoping to release various special editions over the next few months to celebrate this.
As for the other requests, I am very surprised at how often the service comes up short. What happened to Works Service, I seem to recall WS used to do anything that you wanted, providing that you pay!

Well you all know my thoughts on this topic !
'Taste' appears to have nothing to do with Q's decisions, so with regards to the comment earlier in the thread, that has nothing to do with it - they will quite happily paint your car pink with purple spots if you so choose.
I also don't get the 'hate' on here for the idea of the OP. I understand that some on here may not want it in their car, but I don't see it as something so extreme as to evoke some of the reactions in this thread - as it happens, I think it's quite a good idea. Better than the ridiculous bright blue colour scheme I saw on the Q car on the stand yesterday !

Jonby. Yeti, I'm pleased yo both appreciate what it is I am trying to achieve with this car. Dieters comments are ok, if a tad harsh, its not as if I'm proposing to embroider - Bob - and - Julia - on the headrests,,,god forbid!

Jonby, I do have the Y100 AML plate ready to go on the car, so yes, it is a bit special and I'm a bit fed up with 'Q' "pissing on my candles". Its not like I'm trying to plagiarise an existing AM idea. They have their special Centenary livery, etc, which incidently, following my earlier thread on the subject, I have come to appreciate.
Thanks to all contributions, this forum is brilliant, pros and cons for all to contemplate, its a great site.
How can you deride someone wanting centenery numbers when Aston offer personalised sill plaques and have previously had an etched map of the Nurburgring as well as other assorted things of subjective taste in the cars! I can see why it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but it's not monogramming or similar, merely a nod at 100 years of the company: completely innocuous.
Tell them, the car is a tribute to your grandad, who just happens to have been born in 1913...
Then remind them that if it wasn't for Grandad, you wouldn't be in a position today to spend £??? Keeping them in a job

When I was looking for my first Aston last year I saw a V8V with the "etched map of the Nurburgring" and I laughed thinking that the owner had added it.I did not realise it was factory fitted...............sorry if any of you guys have it on your cars , but its not for me.
I guess Aston have a dilemma here, they want to offer a bespoke service, but I would imagine they cannot just do anything the owner wants no matter how much money they want to throw at it.
If they went down that road you could get "Love" and "Hate" embroidered on the seats to match the tattoos on the owners hands
They want to retain the brand image and integrity, although in this particular case I think the 2013 is a nice touch in the centenary year.
Would they allow for instance 1913 - 2013
Of course they could be keeping something like a centenary embroidery for other centenary cars later in the year once they have flogged off the existing ones.
