As stated in the title really. Any views and experience of this please. £100 I think the nice man said...

I am usually not one for extended insurance polices, but thought i would check the general consensus on here.

Thanks

I paid £500 for three years cover. Had a sidewall with a cut in it on a rear tyre and as the other was worn (and so both should be repalced) I had to replace both. Covered under the tyre warranty so it has paid for itself already at the end of the first year. I will be getting my nearside alloys done soon too.

The insurance provides for up to 10 wheel refurishments and four or five tyre replacements (I can't exactly remember) during the three years.

So worked for me but if you never scrape a wheel or have accidental damange to a tyre then it is just another expense. I figured with all the potholes in roads and the low profile of the V8V tyres that it was worth it and for me it has been.

As above. I didn't take it out and after over three years have not scraped a wheel or had a puncture, so it wouldn't have worked for me. It all depends upon your attitude to risk. Conversely I did take out the chip insurance and that did work for me.

If the nice man said £100 I would definitely take up the offer. The normal quoted price is £649-699 for two years but I am not sure how many people actually pay that. One wheel refurb would cost about the premium price and you are allowed ten claims in two years if you are that unfortunate. Five tyre replacements are also in the policy, claims only in the UK so if you are planning to rack up the miles in Europe you are not covered there. The only other small print issue is reporting any wheel claim within 72 hours of it happening or remembering that when you tell them wink I have the insurance and have used it twice this year so I am in the money.

Thanks, well, i am so predisposed to saying no to such things even though i thought he said £100 I said no, it was only on reflection of the relative value did i think, actually, that sounds quite good.

I probably misheard him.

Just one thing to bear in mind for those of us with diamond-turned rims is that if you have to dress one wheel, you really have to dress them all so the "clear-coat" laquor looks the same for all 4 wheeels. Dressing a single wheel may be a hit and miss match.

I doubt if insurance will cover for that?

I never bothered with any of these products from stratstone. I doubt you'd claim on them unless you were doing the mileage? Just be careful smile

Another thing to consider is you can only recut the diamond finish a couple of times

I've had two punctures in the last year, so it's worth it for me.

I normally say no to all extended warranties, however this was one of the few exceptions. The rate you pay is dependant on the claim amount, I think. My policy is for 3 years - individual claim limit of £250 or £300 for £375 for the 3 years. Again, cover for 10 wheel refurbs and 5 punctures. (not Stratstone - another AM Dealer)

I took out the tyre, alloy and minor damage insurance with my car which I purchased from Stratstone. I thought that the initial out lay would far out way any claims I may make which could add up to many times the initial cost.

I paid £500 but have not used it yet but the diamond cut alloys are expensive to repair properly plus it covers the tyres. Given the choice again then no, if you can get it for £100, bargain and sign up

I took it out for £500. Had two wheels refurbed in the last year so that's fine. I don't normally go for any of these extended warranties but it seemed good value considering the cost of tyres and wheels.
