DB9 service costs, and making her a bit sportier?

Hi all,
Looking into purchasing my 1st Aston this month, looking at a early DB9 to replace my TVR Cerbera that I have owned for nearly 6 years.
Can someone give me an indication of service costs, and if there is anyone in Scotland that can do the work for a not too eye watering price?
I have driven a DB9 and the handling was a little bit on the soft side compared to my TVR, are there suspension upgrades? Not looking for something that can do track days, but I do enjoy some spirited driving around the Scottish B roads.

He's right, the DB9 is defo a GT and not a sports car. Its fast, but, but would lose hands down to a Nissan GTR. But then the DB9 has, "Class", in bucket loads. But then all Astons do, you can turn it more sporty, but it still won't out manoever a V8V or V12V.Before you take the decision, I'd consider carefully what car you want, a Sports car (TVR), a GT (DB9), or a cross between a GT and Sports car (V8V/V12V). personally I wanted a V12, so the decision was easy.
I am a fan of the engineering of the GTR, but just doesn't have the soul or class of an Aston (and I like my British cars)
I do like the V8V, and would love a V12V but that is out of my price range for the moment, I would ultimately love a DBS as that fits the best of both worlds, but again, unfortunately out of my price range for a few years.

I suggest you have a look at Murray Motors website. This Edinburgh Aston dealer has a rather lovely 2005 DB9 in Meteorite with Chancellor Red leather (trust me it works) with paintwork as new, up for £39,995. I think f-----g beautiful about covers it. They also have a natty little calculator which tells you what servicing will cost annually, and it's not frightening. Nice people, I'd like to deal with them myself, but the finances aren't quite there yet.
If you can find the right car at the right figure, within the official dealer network, why wouldn't you? It's like joining one of the nicest clubs in the world.
As to sporting upgrades, Bamford Rose are well documented on this site.

Why when someone says they have the budget for an early DB9 does everyone say 'get a V12 Vantage instead'? 
The DB9 can be turned into a far more 'sporty' car but it takes money to do; the car is capable of it (see the DBS, it's a DB9 with bolt-ons) but that wasn't the design brief.
Adding a rear-anti tool bar, drop links and shear plates are job one, this gives it the stiffness of a Virage/DBS. Suspension... Cheapest is fitting H&R springs, best is fitting Bamford Rose switchable suspension.
That gives a zero compromise option; soft as standard for wafting on the motorway or in town, firmer than Sports Pack for when you're enjoying the roads or are on track. Believe me, the Volante with a few mods is far better on track than you'd believe

To the OP.....with regards to costs on servicing your DB9 it depends on a number of factors......how old, mileage, service history to date, independent or main dealer.....but as a rough guide £500 to £900 per year for the service

I would highlight the word 'from' on the price column, although - as stated - mine was spot on, even down to the MOT cost.Which means I'm paying the retail price.
Which also means I didn't haggle enough
