Hi all

Have any of you heard of or had Williams ceramic coat applied to your car? The leaflet says it is a new extraordinary product designed to protect paint work, alloys and bumpers from traffic pollution etc etc

Appreciate any thoughts.

I had a 'glass' coat applied to a Porsche I owned, which was still working 10 months after it was put on. I didn't have to wax it in all that time. For the GBP 600 or so it cost me at the time, it was quite good value.

A dealer applied ceramic/glass coat would last about a year. Supaguard/autoglym ste shine doesn't last 5 mins.

600 quid is a lot of money. For that money, you can have a detailer prep the car properly and apply a better product that will last longer. It's a shame that most people have these products applied without knowing there is better options out there. It's all about dealers making a profit, not helping a client do what's best for their car.

I have it on my V8V I picked up at the beginning of the year. Frustratingly I've realised that I can't get the car detailed without removing the coat in the process, so you need to make sure the car is spot on (no chips however tiny) before having it applied. I have some road rash in the normal places and I can't really do much about it now without destroying the coat.

The poor weather has meant I have to wash the car pretty much time every time I use it. It comes up really well and dare I say it, better than other cars that I've had a coating put on. I don't regret it, but its a lot of money for something that is see through and that you never really know if its helping or not.

They have a website.... Not sure of the address...

Thanks had the C1 treatment is it worth putting Exo over the top I would do it myself but the product is pricey.
I will say after having this done cleaning the car is easy its like the body has a wax coating very slippery I then dab dry to finish.

I would not bother with the sales pitch on a leaflet.

Get over to detailingworld. Lose yourself in reading for a few days.

Applying exo will indeed add another layer of protection, but the car has to be 20c plus for it to bond. For version 1 anyway. I have it and have only used it twice. Once on Ian's v8 (before his v12) and once with my own can on a McLaren mp4-12.

You only need to add more protection when you see the stuff you have on the car start to lessen. As it stands, 22ple is the best sealant you can get at the min, but the soon to be released updated versions of gtechniq products should be on a par.

Thanks for the responses all. Learnt a lot from here and a detailing forum. Decided against the coating. I have made a new purchase but will wait until I get some pictures before posting. Picking it up next week.

Wont keep the car clean with parking next to a puddle at work- always manage to get the correct angle for perfect splash!
