Hello,

The light on the traction control button on my 07 v8v never lights up. I don't know if DSC is on (I am guessing it is reset to "on" by default after starting the ignition, and only switched off if held down for 4 seconds) - is there any other way of telling if it is on? I'd like it to be on so can anyone confirm if it defaults to on after ignition (even if someone had switched it off before)?

There are 5 buttons in that area (including aircon for instance). Only some of them seem to light up. Is this likely to be a case of broken LEDs in the individual buttons, or is this normal?

Thanks,
tam

Yes, it defaults to on every time...then the 4 second rule applies.

This is what my DB9 manual tells me smile

Thank you smile That's a relief. So it does seem the LEDs in some fo the buttons are dead. Will mention it next time I get it serviced, as no-one seems to have picked up on it at the last service.

Tam - so long as the Vantage is the same as the DB9 - DSC is always in the default ON position - ie no light. When you hold the switch for 4 seconds or so the light comes on to remind you that you have switched DSC OFF.

Turning off your car sends everything back to default. smile

Ah - I see! I'll have a go at that next time I'm in the car. Since the car seemed rather stable despite my less-than-stellar driving skills, I assumed DSC was indeed active. I was worried to mess around with it owing to the apparent lack of indicator light, and as I didn't know whether whatever setting I'd inadvertently set it to would be retained between "reboots". Now you've explained how it works I can be a bit more adventurous in my experiments (I've had the car almost a year and haven't yet tried fiddling with the DSC settings!)

As far as I know ( from 5th Gear the other night) EU regs require allow stability controls to be turned off but require they auto reset on engine start.

One a DB9 this is the also what the user guide says.

I didn't know that. Why can't you turn off Anti-Lock Brakes as well? I thought there were specific times when its best that he ABS is off. Seems funny that we can turn off some, "safety", equipment, but not others. smile
