Clarkson is a knob.... Do we care what he thinks??
I daresay he's driven more cars that most of us put together so I'd rate his opinion above many

Plus this is the >new< and improved PH Aston forum. EVERYONE has to be allowed to have an un-questioned opinion even if it's b
ks and they're nothing more than functioning retards. Also a positive TG/JC review can do wonders for a company's bank balance, rightly or wrongly. How many will go to an AM dealer looking for a V12VR, and end up in the new DB9.2 Volante instead? A few I expect (hope).

I rate Clarkson (most of the time) but he appears not to like the V12VR because it is a manual, the gear knob was very cold, the same knob would interfere with his coffee in the cupholder and his leg ached when driving in town because it was a manual. Apparently enjoyed around the TG track and only ended up backwards once and yes the V8VS is £40k cheaper. Definitely not a positive review but the cold knob probably decided that when he first sat in the car. Knew they should have launched the car in the summer - just for Clarkson

He spent the first half of the article explains why a manual is better ,then the second half explaining why it isn't .

As camp as it sounds... I had Sarah Maynard make me a Pittards Glove leather cover for my gearknob
It really is very nice and Aston really should be doing the same
The sad thing is he is right - the gear lever is flippin cold - can't wait for the summer to arrive when it is too hot to hold when you have left it in the sun with the roof down

I di think of putting a Sarah Maynard gear knob on just to get the glove that went over it

anyway here is a better review of the coupe ,not seen this before myself so apologies if its been posted already.

So while the manual gearbox may cause you to have more sex, it makes you a bit hurty, it’s hard to use, it’s not as efficient as flappy paddles and it feels surprisingly old-fashioned. As if you’ve switched from an iPad to a typewriter.
How does the manual cause you to have more sex?
Same 'knob'as in the V12V - that was marvellous marvellous marvellous or something similar!! No mention of the knob there .
Takes one to know one I suppose. Must be a bit embarrassing saying the V12V was the last of line - the end an era - then they bring out the Roadster ! Unlucky JC you might get it right one day!

And it’s the same story with the new-fangled flappy-paddle gearboxes. In essence, these are the left and right keys on a laptop. They’re switches. You are just asking a computer to do something, and half the time it will say no. Which means you are a slave to software. A journeyman. An epsilon.

If you have an automatic, you are telling the world that you are too lazy to change gear yourself. Which means you’ll be hopeless at killing antelopes. You’re the sort of person who watches a lot of television and has warts.

And they're not warts, they're spots

What does it mean if you just have the car in D for Drive, without using the flappy paddles?
