V12 Vantage Questions
Discussion
Having sold my V8V over a year ago and regretted it ever since I find myself now looking at V12V and viewed one today, which has given me a couple of questions that I need some help with.
There was no V12 Vantage badge on the boot. Was there an option to delete the badge, or should the fact it is missing ring alarm bells?
The front carbon discs have rust on the small individual bolts around the edge, is that normal (it is a 2009 car) Can the nuts be replaced easily?

I wouldn't be too worried abou the fact that its been de-badged. I actually think it looks better without the badge IMO. Real beauty has symmetry and I always thought the badge makes the rear a little unbalanced, but of course, I'm being picky.
Is the spec generally a little more unusual? Could it be that the car was simply specified by the first owner not to have the badge? I have seen one in morning frost de-badged; really not an issue in my book.
As for the brakes, I'm no expert but you can have them weighed to check for wear, which is the important thing. However, could it be that a previous owner has used an acid based wheel cleaner which has caused some corosion? wheel cleaner kills CCM brakes apparently. Youd be wise to check it out.

The spec, colour scheme etc are all very standard.
Mileage is high for a V12, sitting at 23k, but the price reflects this, which makes the car an option for me.
Thanks for the debadging comments.
I'm still wondering about the rusting nuts on the discs. Anyone else had this and can they be replaced one by one?

Is this the tungsten one at grange? Someone else on the forum was looking at it a little while ago not sure why they didnt go for it in the end. It's a good price for the spec/miles.De-badging was/is an option and as a previous poster said it looks cleaner - however the badge can easily be added. Rusty wheel nuts is unusual and can only be due to the cars having been standing outside for a while. Some of these dealers keep these cars on the forecourt for months and that can't be that good. I would go for a privately well cared one and then have the dealer check the car before buying. All these cars have been bought by enthusiasts and my experience is that private people look after their cars much better than the dealer would ever do.

Yep, same car, they had taken a deposit on it a few weeks ago, but that must have fallen through. Southwestdave said:

Thanks for the de-badging confirmation. Just to be clear, it is not the wheel nuts that are rusty, but the small nuts around the brake disc and mainly the fronts, the rears look okJust ask a few questions: what warranty work has it had done, service history and owners, etc. I have found Grange to be extremely open and honest in their approach. Was shown a DBS which was well down on price - the previous owner(s) managed to cock up the plate transfer process by re registering the car everytime they fancied having a different plate, so it showed that it had about 7 owners when in fact it had just 3. Someone looking to keep that car got a bargain, no doubt.
If you're looking to do just a handful of miles and the car is straight - then go for it, can't see you really losing in the long run.
But I would still have the brake pads / disks scrupulously checked regardless. Boy, are they expensive to replace!!
