I bought a second hand centre panel ( thing that holds the clock radio etc). Has it sprayed piano black and trying to fit it.

There are videos etc of how to remove this lot so I set too.

The panel with the trinket tray and boot release etc on it has screws at the back, and the theory is you remove those, then slide it back and it will lift out.

However ..... It will slide back about 1 cm and that is it. I can't make it go back any further z( I have applied quite significant force ) and the back of it will not lift. Less force here as the panel starts to bend

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what next

Thanks in advance

Jeremy

Doesn’t the central ‘clock’ panel have nightime illumination for some of the controls? (pre-09MY)

If it’s been painted, how have you got around that?

Hi,

I presume amongst the videos you have looked at is this one - http://youtu.be/kCwOayN32-0 ? The first two minutes are OK but it get s a bit ropey after that!

I managed to do it on my V8V and there were a number of occasions where I had to apply more force than I felt comfortable with.

For pity's sake tape up the leather around the console because the edges are VERY sharp and will cut into the leather as you move it around gaining access to the plugs.

In my experience, if you slide it all the way back (as you say about 1cm) then nudge it forward a couple of mm it then lifts up and out - works for me.

I recently removed my console panel. Removed rear screws and then lifted at the back (15-20 degree angle) and then pulled back to disengage the front tabs.

Maybe sliding it back first is the problem?
