Anyone know the asking price?

Must say, it's not my favourite colour combo, but opportunities to get into a V12VR are few and far between...

I should think they will chance their arm at very close to list price, as you say, not many others about in the Uk at least.

I am sort of kicking myself for not enquiring about one now... A piece of history and I would still have put my 6.5 BR engine into it despite George's effeminate squeaks of protest smile

I might buy a new Morgan though scratchchin

FYI if you haven't seen it already but Mr Plato wasn't particularly enamoured with the new +8 on a recent episode of Fifth Gear:

However, Jonny absolutely loved the M3W:

Am fairly sure this is the car we all got to test drive pre-official production

It has a dark grey lower centre console (not piano black) and doesn't have the black gloss two tone wheels, both of which were standard on full production V12VR, hence my assumption. There may be the other odd cosmetic difference too. Combine this with the fact it's done 9.600 miles & is the same colour as the demo car and it all makes sense

However the demo car had no numbered plaque, just a regular V12V plaque

One assumes they have now allocated a plaque with a number to the car - can't read it in the indistinct photo. For those that don't know, plaque number does not indicate build sequence - I had one towards the back end of production with a pre-reserved number single digit number

Says red in the ad but I thought it was flame orange the car we had demos in? Would love to know if its been allocated a number because that would surely make the production run more than 101 cars?

I agree and think it is the demonstrator and is the car Daniel Craig had for a while. My thinking is that they are either selling it outside the 101 cars without a number being allocated and, if that is the case, pretty sure I would not want it. Just imagine in years to come having to explain why your car (one of only 101 made) isn't numbered confused The other thought is that they have allocated it a number within the 101 in which case I would want it specified correctly with correct detailing and wheels. As to price - has no one made a call yet to find out?

My guess is that as they never allocated all 101 to customers initially, they decided to make this one of the 101. Bearing in mind the pledge from the factory to us on numbers, I'd be amazed if it's in addition to the 101

Of course they may have planned to do this all along regardless of how well the car sold, to offset the costs of the demo cars which would otherwise have to be scrapped but either way, especially being so publically advertised, I can't see it being anything else

As for the comments about being cosmetically different, I'm not sure I'd be that worried. Most V12VRs had a degree of customisation. I paid £1k extra to have the same wheel colouring as on this example ! And interior console wise, the top bit is still piano black and we all know the bottom bit scratches quite easily when in piano black. IN fact overall, this doesn't have the same 'clashes' that the one posted a while back had

I'd be more concerned that it's had 9.600 miles of demo drives & journo drives, much of which has been on winter tyres in bad weather, so I'd want new tyres, service, etc to be sure it was mechanically saund

I have been looking at maybe trading in my V12 coupe for this roadster and the asking price is £149,950 which whilst we all know this is car that will depreciate less than most Astons and if it is not superseded by something looking very similar, it might even depreciate slower. But nothing off for one year and 10k of miles, and it might have been a press car thrashed to bits?

Do people think that long term these will retain value? I think they might, with the limited numbers, last of the manual V12s and all that, but it's a tricky market.

I'd say that £149,500 is a bit toppy for that particular car - do you know if it has a number assigned?

True (ish). But you won't find a V12VR that cost an owner 150 - most cost 160-170.

It was 150 list originally plus OTR taking it to a little over 152.
Then in this example:
Reversing camera 1k
Wind deflector 500
heated seats can't remember, 500 ? (couldn't order them on mine)
front parking sensors 400
B&O 5.5k from memory
2nd key 500 from memory
leather pouch c. 65

So even if this car doesn't have umbrella or smokers pack or any other cosmetic bits I've missed, including if there is a charge for this colour, it would have been a little over 160k OTR in this config, primarily from B&O

I agree it still appears a little over-priced given all the circumstances, but maybe not as much as it initially looks. Assuming there's say 5kish to be had off the price, sounds sensible (ish)

On smooth surfaces great, but have you driven one on a bumpy country road?

They certainly do not instill confidence, that you will stay on the correct side of the road through corners. Oncoming traffic can be a worry with left hand corners.

Just spoke to them and all you say above is correct plus the colour was an extra, making it low £160's originally. Its a pre-production car so yes it has no number and I'm guessing this is a long term possible positive but I doubt it will get you much extra down the road. I would imagine in its life its been kept it in perfect nick for its ambassadorial role.

Oh and it's not Daniel Craig's car.

This is a good call. My dad bought a 997 that previously wore the 911 HUL number plate and it was the best and tightest 997 you could imagine. It had been serviced every 5k by the best technicians to ensure it was the absolute best it could be, along with having a slightly stronger than usual motor. He had it dyno'd at 28,000 miles and it had 21bhp more than stated on the spec sheet...

Well those that have taken delivery are more than happy with their cars !

However we do have written guarantees that no more than 101 vehicles will be produced by the factory in this configuration, so even if they aren't allocating plaque numbers to the ex demo cars, they should still come within the 101 if they are released for sale to the public. A few of us will be rather miffed if this proves not to be the case.......

Be prepared to be miffed! It is definately in addition to the 101, it has no number. There maybe more than one, dealer said there are usually a couple.

I am intrigued as to what would make it a positive that it was not a numbered car? Not being funny but do not understand.

On a mega desirable car, it makes something rare even rarer - effectively, as something of a quirk and that much more exclusive if it was pre production

I'm not sure if it would have the same effect on V12VR and if so, I'm guessing not for 20+ yrs

Yes, I have a 20yr old Plus 8 which I have just climbed out of smile

The only reason I think of speccing a new one is because mine won't depreciate, in fact it will probably appreciate as it is a very nicely kept car. I'd like the feeling of speccing from new with Porsche Oak green paint and baseball glove tan leather and the few toys I want like heated seats! I could probably find 20k to add to mine to do this, an Aston would require borrowing money for which I don't do.

Who knows smile
