I’ve had a little Google and PH search but can’t find anything relating to the removal of the “gear selector” switches in the DB9 centre console. Last time I did this with the coupe I left it until the car was in at Trinity for a service. Is the removal and replacement of these with the shiny new glass fronted ones easy enough to undertake oneself? If so can anyone point me in the right direction of some instructions please?

I will tell you in a few days!

It should be. The switches are the same as those in the rest of the console. They have spring clips that are just a bit more than your fingers can push - so I used a small bladed screwdriver and they will pop out.

My assumption is that i can pop up the front of the ski ( this takes literally seconds) and then fiddle away to get the switches out and then back in again.

At worst case the ski comes off and the only bit I am not (currently ) sure of is how to disconnect the sat nav top which seem to be connected with something that looks like my daughters hair ties!

The good news is hair ties are £1 for 30 at Primark!

I am just about to order the PNDR buttons (mailed Aston Bits this morning) to do just this. I will report how i get on.

Unless it all goes horribly wrong I cant see it taking more than 30 mins if the whole Ski does not have to come off or about an hour if it does.

Have a look at this page if you’re considering converting a Pre 09MY, it’s a bit trickier.

The whole set of glass buttons aren’t available. Unless somebody has found a supplier?...

I’ve decided to love the ‘classic’ button. smile

Good god, 7 pages of spam! I know the buttons can be done ebcause Trinity did them for me last time. Just wondering if there were clear DIY instructions smile Will see how jeremy gets on!

Dear PH friends,
as it appears from the above that removing the PRND buttons is not so difficult, as owner of a LHD, I envisage to reverse their order, i.e. D N R P, based on the idea that the D button should be the nearest to the driver, as it is in the "british" RHD cars.
Can anybody give me any suggestion and/or confirm whether there is enough wire inside the console (for each button) to realize my "dream"?
Thanks in advance

I would say (from memory) that you will struggle to do this with the harness as it is.

Yes he did yes and it was not that difficult..

Adrian @ BR explained how to remove the ski slope, and how to detach it from the Nav.. Ordered the buttons from Rob @ HWM (best price), and they arrived in two days..

The glass buttons are beautiful and make a huge improvement over the standard ones..

Unfortunately I'm out and about at the moment, but will post some very very basic instructions when I'm home later tonight..
