Aston Centenary Celebration in the SW - 3/4 August
Discussion
There have been a few threads recently looking for events that will celebrate Aston’s Centenary so I thought I would let you know about the one I am organising for AMOC Area 20 (Devon and Cornwall). This is the only event that I am aware of in our Area that will celebrate ‘100 years of Aston Martin’ and it will be held as part of the Castle Hill Car Festival, where Aston Martin will be the headline marque. It is open to all owners of Astons who would like to join the display so if you fancy a weekend in the South West please read on.
Set in the fabulous grounds of Castle Hill, Filleigh near Barnstaple, the Castle Hill Car Festival is set to become one of the premier events in the Car Show calendar in the South West. The festival will feature over 1,000 historic, classic and modern cars, motorcycles, military and commercial vehicles brought together from throughout the country.
The event will be held over two days with lots planned to keep you interested. One of the aspects that I particularly like is that we will be able to use our cars rather than just leave them in a static display. For those making a weekend of it we have also been given the opportunity by the organisers to hold Centenary Dinner in one of the private rooms at Castle Hill on the Saturday evening. We have arranged discounted pricing with the Brend Group of hotels who have three hotels in Barnstaple with transport to and from the hotels organised. Cars can be left overnight in a secure parking area at Castle Hill.
In addition to the above you there will be:
- Road Runs - a choice of two routes that will take you through North Devon on some fantastic roads.
- Track Sprint Challenge - one of the most exciting attractions at the Festival will be a 0.8 mile track sprint through the heart of the Castle Hill Estate.
- Arena Events - the Arena, which is surrounded by natural banking, will host a variety of parades and will showcase many of the fantastic cars at the show.
- Trade exhibition area - all exhibitors will be automotive related.
- Auto Jumble area.
- The Top Gear Experience has also been confirmed.
The list of those attending increases by the day:
- Grange Aston Martin will be present with six cars on display.
- Evanta Motor Cars will be bringing along a couple of their fantastic creations based upon the DB7.
- Mission Motorsports, the armed forces charity who have just been confirmed as providing pit crew for AMR in the World Endurance Series, will be coming along and are hoping to bring with them one of the AMR racing cars.
- Bonhams will also be there and are putting together a small display of classic Astons for the event.
For more information about the Festival please go to their website (http://www.castlehillcarfestival.co.uk) where you can download an e-brochure which gives the up to date position and more information on what is happening.
Everything points to it being a really great event and we hope that some of you will be able to join us. We want to put together a fantastic display of Astons which will be worthy of celebrating the Centenary so if you would be interested in coming along and would like to learn more please PM me and I will get the pricing information to you.
Many thanks.
Ian.

I did actually mention the show to her so it won't be too unexpected... Fingers crossed the car will be there with the new engine and a spec sheet for all to see

Would love to join you & hear those lovely Devon/Cornwall accents in person but we have our names down for Chris Evans' CarFest North that w/end
Shame you can't join us Molly, you're going to miss a great event.
Not sure you'll miss out on any local accents though - I was born in Shepherds Bush although Lady S is a Deb'n maid

We have just under two months to go to our Centenary event in the South West so I thought that I would bump the thread and provide an update.
We already have 35 cars entered for the display and more than 50 people coming along to the Gala Dinner on the Saturday evening so I think we are off to a good start. I am really pleased with the spread of Astons that we will have in the display but would always welcome some more entries to cover some gaps in the line up, in particular, from the Feltham era and Virage (90's) cars where we are lacking at the moment. Whilst we have some great examples from the V8 era from the 70/80's it would be good to have some more to bolster that period as well. We are also looking for some Gaydon cars as well so if you have a DBS (Coupe or Volante), DB9 Volante and V8 Roadster they would also be a great addition.
In addition to the highlights set out in my original post I have been informed that there will be displays by the Arbarth Stunt Plane and if you fancy seeing North Devon from the air then helicopter rides will be available.
Having met with the organisers this week the event is definitely pulling together and I am even more convinced that it will prove to be a really great and enjoyable event. I know it is a busy weekend for events but we would really appreciate your support down here in the South West and I would love to hear from you. If you fancy a weekend in Devon please PM me and I will send more information through to you.
Many thanks.

Well just one month to go to our Centenary event in the South West so I thought that I would bump the thread and provide an update.
We now have 46 cars entered for the display and 70 people coming along to the Gala Dinner on the Saturday evening so I am thrilled with the progress that has been made over the last month. Thanks to everyone who are coming down to support the event.
We have got a really good spread of Astons from pre-war cars through to modern day Astons. The only era where we have no representation is the DB's from the Feltham era which is a shame
but could change over the next few weeks - hopefully. We are also looking for some Gaydon cars as well so if you have a DBS (Coupe or Volante), DB9 Volante and V8 Roadster they would also be a great addition. If I have not mentioned your model do not think we do not want as any Aston would be a great addition to the display.
In addition to the highlights set out in other posts I have been informed that there will now be a 2013 Lotus F1 car on display and rumoured that another very special car will be announced this week as well. Keep an eye on the Castle Hill Car Festival website, Facebook and Twitter pages for updates.
Having met with the organisers again last week the event is definitely pulling together and I am even more convinced that it will prove to be a really great and enjoyable event. It is without doubt one of the busiest weekend for events of the year but we would really appreciate your support down here in the South West and I would love to hear from you.
