MrCrazy - I have changed my name
Discussion
After due consideration and speaking with others, I decided to change my name.
I think that MrCrazy gave out the wrong signal as it appeared to serve to promote argument where none was intended.
I have therefore changed my name for something more appropriate and in keeping with the marque.
My new name is AstonTony which probably means my potential SLS or R8V10 are all now forgotten about.
I have to say that after the mid Wales run I will be tempted to change to the TT Vantage if it ever is released. I had a real struggle keeping with the Vantages as they really are quite nimble - I hope this wasn't down to my sh#t driving but I acknowledge it would have paid a slight part in this. I do think I could have gone faster though in a V12V.
Maybe I should take heed from the man maths thread and convince myself (well Erica) that she should get a V12V and I should keep my DB. That way we would have the best of both worlds. This however would take some really good man maths or more probably a lottery win
Hope my speeeling woz ok and my nu name works

Good to see you at the weekend Tony - lovely car too (apart from that wee nick on the diffuser
)
Your point on the Vantages being quicker and more nimble darting around country lanes is a valid one - even a 4.3 V8V is difficult to beat - as that extra 12"s is prone to tell you it's there if you abuse it
Despite it's fabulous looks the Vantage, however, will never have the road presence of a DBS (or a Vanquish) so really it's up to you as to what you want out of a car.
Good idea on the name change

DB9 owners in getting the excuses in early shocker!

You'll be telling me next DB9's understeer.

Based on my experience from the JLC tour, I didn't see much (any) difference between the handling of a well driven DB9 and a well driven 4.3 Vantage. The main difference was if in a 4.3 you go into a tight corner in too high a gear following a V12 engined car as you exit the corner the V12 just f
ks off into the distance. Not as bad in the 4.3 if you are in the right gear and thrashing it (actually good fun) but still noticable.I did realise (yet again) that I could go faster if I was a better (OK even half decent) driver. Off to search the classifieds to look at V12 engined cars to allow me to ignore my bad driving and make up for it with cubes.

Tony, great to meet you and Erica at the weekend - I now know a lot more about decoy ducks than I thought possible!
As for the car choice, it's a very interesting quandary. I was in my training bra V8V and actually thought it suited the roads very well, as long as you're in the right gear at the right time. I'd have thought the DB chassis was quite lively on the twisty undulating roads of the Élan Valley. Mine certainly scraped the underside on occasions, although I was following Cockers and Martyn, both of whom have race experience!
If it were me? I'd keep the DBS, not much beats that for looks and performance........but get a V12VR as well......best of all worlds for the twistys. Erica won't mind....

If Erica has her way she will spend all my man maths money on a duck!As for the car choice, it's a very interesting quandary. I really had no idea how much they cost - I thank you for prising that little gem out of her

As for the roads, I need air brakes. Doing 30 mph in a 30 zone over that real hump back bridge caused me to get 'air'. Landing was good though and the road was kind in so much as it was straight.
Literally THE best car event I have ever been........looking forward to the July blast!

So although you are Aston Tony or Tony I see that in formal situations you still want to be called Mr Crazy, fair enough.

Sorry Rich, that one is completely lost on an old timer like me
In your notes you have put formally instead of formerly

Although I am capable of making myself look like a complete knob, looks like my iPad is giving additional assistance!
